The atmosphere is perfect for a college crowd with games, a stage, 2 large bars, plenty of seating and the highlight of a rooftop bar overlooking the cotton district. The service was bad from the start. We ordered the chips and queso for an appetizer which came out with our food vs before. The queso was cold and the chips a poor quality and we questioned why they bothered to include the tablespoon of salsa. I ordered a roast beef sandwich which sounded great on the menu but came out with questionable roast beef deli slices and a glob of something that was supposed to be gravy. It was cold and inedible. I would
have sent it back but our server was MIA until the rest of my table had already finished. My husband ordered the Italian sandwich and said it was meh. The kids ate the pizza but also said it was just ok. I have seriously had better food at a ballpark concession stand. I rarely give negative reviews but you should know this is a great place for a drink, but don’t go hungry because that is how you will leave. This place has a lot of potential but needs to ramp up service and food quality before we will be back.

I came in a couple weeks ago and had Sarah Beth as our server. She was FANTASTIC and her attitude just made our experience better. I see other poor service reviews but that wasn’t the experience we had. After we ate we went to sit at the bar and the bartenders were equally nice, observant, and helpful even when they were busy. This bar gets busy like no other bar in the district due to its size alone. The Landing is the place to be on game days and weekend nights from my experience. The atmosphere is electric and Starkville needed a place like this. On the weekends they have chill live music upstairs and live DJ downstairs depending on the mood you’re in. I really like the variety they offer in that regard, no other place in the district offers what they do. Music selection, square footage, big bathrooms, bigger bars to order from.

I was told the new GM is a younger guy but is an up and coming name in the industry. I look forward to seeing how this bar evolves within the next year. So much fun and still 6-7 months old.

It has great potential, but as several others have pointed out, the food and service are subpar. I was there on a game day, and they ran out of half of their food by one o’clock. Bartender was extremely rude. Repeatedly ignored while he served his friends buckets of beer. When I finally got served, I asked for a bucket and he said “I’m not doing buckets. It takes way too long” in a rude tone after I saw him do 3 buckets right before I ordered. Bartenders and servers seem overwhelmed the entire time, and obviously have not been prepared/trained for their jobs. Most of them are inexperienced and rude. I understand that will happen to a degree, as most of them are college students, but it’s worse than the other bars around town with the same age staff.

The food is concession stand quality if they even have it available. The only saving grace here is the location and setup. I recommend any other bar or restaurant in the district especially if you are looking for food.

I have been here two other times – in baseball season and in the summer. Both times, it seemed like no one knew what they were doing. I chalked it up to it being a new bar, but my most recent experience did not encourage me to give it another shot.

Sara Beth was the best waitress, she was so attentive to our table even on an extremely busy night. The atmosphere at The Landing was great and Sara Beth made it so much better.

I recently moved to Starkville from Texas, and have really enjoyed visiting your bar a few times since arriving. Unfortunately, my experience tonight was very disappointing and concerning. I recognize that this was one of the first weekends with undergraduates back in town, and I understand how demanding that can be for staff. However, the service I received from one of the female bartenders was unacceptable. My friend and I waited over 30 minutes at the bar, yet during that time she repeatedly ignored us and served only the men around us including those who had arrived well after we did. When she finally acknowledged us, she began to take our order but immediately dismissed us once our male friend clarified we were not on his tab, then continued to ignore us until the bar slowed down. As someone who has worked as a bartender myself, I know how stressful and fast-paced a Friday night shift can be. Out of respect for that, I still tipped her. That said, the way we were treated was unprofessional, discriminatory, and left a very negative impression. Guests should never feel disregarded or singled out, regardless of how busy the night is.

We had our class reunion on the rooftop a couple of weeks ago. The management team, servers, and bartenders were all so accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The food (mainly pizza/wings & dips ) were deeelish!!
Thanks again to The Landing for making our night one to remember!!

The Landing is exactly what Starkville needed! This new rooftop bar is hands down the best college hangout in town. The atmosphere is unmatched—chill, lively, and the perfect place to unwind with friends or celebrate a game day win. The view from the rooftop adds a fun, open-air vibe that sets it apart from anywhere else in the area.

The bar food is surprisingly good too! Their pizza hits the spot, the wings are flavorful with just the right amount of crisp, and the fried green beans are a must-try—seriously addictive. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a drink, catch some live music or a game, and stay for hours.

Whether you’re a student looking for a regular weekend hangout or just in town for a visit, The Landing is 100% worth checking out. Starkville has a new favorite bar!

I’m giving a 2 for atmosphere being a nice layout!. I ordered two beers in the 8 oz cups and after the foam dissolved I got about 5 oz! It was 6.00 for a 5oz glass!!!! The food was not good at all – the chips with queso was sad. The 20.00 pizza with paper thin crust was not good! I hope this place makes it but they need to make changes! I won’t even get started on the security mall cops crawling all over this place. After the local college kids visit this place one time they will run the other way. Good luck!
