This place was recommended by a few friends so I decided to try it because everyone was raving about the Mozambique. I am now concerned for my friends if they think this place is good. My pork was extremely overcooked to the point of it being inedible. I actually had to switch meals with my husband because it was so bad. His dish wasn’t much better. For $21 his steak was small and his side dish was undercooked “round fries.” They were very thick and raw in the middle which is wild considering Portuguese restaurants usually cook everything to death. Overall, everything was flavorless and not cooked properly. There are so many other Portuguese restaurants in this city, I suggest going elsewhere.

Visited for the first time out of recommendation from a local to try the boiled potatoes. I ended up ordering something else and was very pleased with my experience. Excellent portion, taste, and the workers, bartender were very friendly and helpful providing great service and answering questions when I was trying to make a selection of what to order. Not as pricey as I thought.

The service and the food were absolutely fantastic. I had made reservations for 2:00 and my in-laws were literally an hour and a half late. My waitress was amazingly patient totally worked with me and they let me bring a cake and they sing Happy Birthday to my mother-in-law. Cannot say enough great things about the staff and the food.

A hidden gem located at 1528 Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford, Cafe Mimo Restaurant is an excellent dining experience that is regarded by many locals as the best restaurant for Portuguese food in the city. My wife and I are open to trying new dishes and we have been enjoying many unique Portuguese delicacies that are promoted online daily and compliment their traditional menu choices. We both love seafood and for an appetizer we generally choose between Littlenecks with Garlic Sauce or Spanish Style, both are delicious! I have my go-to choices for an entree that I will mention first. Seafood Linguine, Seafood Mozambique, Baked Stuffed Salmon & Baked Seafood Platter are each delicious and will satisfy my urge for a seafood dish. Each dish is made-to-order and if you would enjoy an adult beverage while you wait, they have draft beer, bottled beer, wine & excellent cocktails that are all reasonably priced. I enjoy their Sangrias that add a generous scoop of diced fruit & your choice of Sumol Sparkling Juice. Regarding the Baked Stuffed Salmon, ask for a side order of their Creamy Mozambique Sauce for an upcharge. You will not regret it. I dip the salmon & vegetables in a cup of this sauce and I love it. You can order Chicken or Shrimp Mozambique dishes with the regular or creamy Mozambique Sauce and you will crave that sauce until your next visit. Cafe Mimo Restaurant features daily specials and authentic Portuguese limited or seasonal food items are featured. Their excellent & friendly staff will provide you with answers to any questions that you may have about that, should you decide to explore food offerings that you haven’t experienced before. I enjoyed every one. My favorites included Lapas ( Mediterranean mollusks ), Portuguese Goat Stew, Portuguese Tripe & Bean Stew, & they featured dry rubbed Grilled Ribs that were the best ribs that I have had in the area. We have become “regulars” at Cafe Mimo Restaurant on our mission to explore new dining experiences, and my wife and I are grateful that we did. They have off street parking behind the restaurant, but you do not have to feed the meters after 6:00 if you see an open space. I am certain that I will continue reporting on their other fine food choices in the future.

This is the place to go for Home Cooked Portuguese Food. I asked my mechanic for some suggestions and he told me this is where he goes for lunch so I thought I would give it a try and so glad I did. As I walked In I was Greeted with a smiling host. She was kind, Courteous and Professional. I asked for some recommendations and she was Happy to explain each item. Asking what I was in the mood for? I started out with Kale Soup and it was delicious and tasty. Then I picked the Steak Sandwich with French Fries and another perfect choice. The Steak was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was so tender and fell apart in my mouth. The Portuguese Roll was so Fresh. I also had a side cup of Portuguese Beans. The beans was cooked with Chourico and Thick Bacon Pieces. The Prices are very reasonable and good portions. They have a Full Bar and offer a Expresso Menu too. Please Try This Place you will Truly Enjoy every Minute of your time there. 4 Diamonds is what I would have rated this place if giving the opportunity. Kid Friendly Also!

Seated quickly with reservations. Waiting nearly an hour to be served our meals while watching others who arrived after us being served. Meals were unmentionable. Ordered the octopus which was drenched in oil, better the next day; Mozambique chicken, not very moist and shrimp both just fine. Didnt try any appetizers nor dessert.The cocktails were good especially if you like to taste the alcohol. Atmosphere could have been more comfy. It was a bit chilly in the restaurant. Did eat everything so regard that as you may. Restaurant was clean. Happy we came and experienced for ourselves.

If your going to order doordash here your better off going to Myplace or any other local portuguese restaurant in the area because here you will be considered very low priority and will not get your food on time at all. Coming from a dasher that always needs to unassign at this restaurant every single time because of the exaggerated wait time at this place.
