This is a pretty nice local place that many don’t know about unless you have been there. It’s a little bit difficult to find, but there is a large sign that is visible from the road. The inside is split into a diner area and a lounge with a bar. The diner side is bigger and more open, but the lounge side is kind of retro with older style takes and chairs.
The menu is very “fried chicken” oriented. They have many versions of chicken dinner options. Many of the non-chicken options seem cheap, but the reason is because there is no side served with the main meat option. With that being said, the food is prepared very much in a “home-style” manner with care given to the preparation rather than the garnishing.

A “must go” place in the Iowa Great Lakes! Terrific food with large servings and low prices. The chicken is terrific. I had the best cheeseburger of my life here. And the staff is friendly, efficient, fast yet patient and conversational. You won’t find a better place to eat and have a good time!

We ate here on a Friday night. The portions were plentiful, and my husband said his ribs were very, very good. I had the all you can eat fish fry, but was full with my heaping first serving. The service was good, and I noticed a lot of locals ate there.

Wonderful atmosphere and the food is amazing! Best chicken in the county and the service is impressive. Seasonally it can get crazy busy, but that doesn’t affect the quality of both service and food.

truly amazing food. Absolutely delicious. Service leaves something to be desired and it’s always packed so consider ordering food to go. You don’t want to be in the dining area when it’s close to closing time as the staff wants out of there. Not open a lot so check hours before showing up.

Old style family steakhouse. A favorite gathering place for the locals, but don’t feel uncomfortable. We entered into a nice conversation with another couple and soon felt like locals ourselves. Food was first rate steakhouse fare and the prices were reasonable. Didn’t leave hungry!

First time there since ownership change. Will never go back. They removed the salad bar!, service was horrible waiting over 1/2 hour to get drinks, got out dinner salads with meal. The chicken tasted as it had been sitting under a heat lamp, it was very dry and tough. This used to be my favorite place to go. Not no more never will go back!!!

Poor service, took 2 hours to get food, had to get our own drinks at bar waitress never stopped back, when we finally did get our food it was wrong. They got rid of the salad bar. This use to be one of our favorite places, will be a long time before we go back.

Tragedy that the Gingham’s run as a restaurant is ending . A Great page in the history of Spirit Lake will end. Always loved my meals there . Bye family run business…fast food will never replace you !
