Just experienced breakfast at Beans & Barley Brews. What an amazing experience. Food was deliciously fresh and tasty. The service was phenomenal. The ambiance was great. Decor was on point. Take a drive out to Ashkum, exit 293 on I-57 South. You can thank me later.

Over the past five years of our full-time Road Life Adventure, it has become rare to encounter such welcoming, joyful, and fun-loving people like we met at Beans & Barley Brews — not just the owners and staff, but also our new Harvest Host friends. ♥️
Cameron and Dee, the owners, and their family were incredibly gracious. Words can’t fully express how amazing they are. The home-cooked food is among the best, the selection of local beers is incredible, the staff were fantastic, and the entire restaurant is captivating. It felt like home and family! We also met two wonderful HH couples. We spent hours laughing with Kent and Kathy and forming a new, unexpected friendship. All of us riffed on each other while sharing about life.
I was sad to leave after two days of such a beautiful experience. The only way to sum it up better is with a video we’ll publish. The only way to experience it is to visit them. If you don’t, you’ll miss something very special.

This place was a FIND! Seems like it is in the middle of nowhere, but this restaurant was fantastic with a really cool atmosphere, a beautiful setup, and fantastic food. If you pass by this place on the interstate without stopping by and giving their food a try, you are making a mistake. They also have a few RV spots on site with specials included at the diner. All in all, fantastically friendly and tasty!

The food was fresh, very tasty, portions were good, we all loved it. Took 4 of our youngest kids along, and everyone enjoyed it. We weren’t offered a kids menu, so the kids got adult meals, and they had plenty to take home, could have split a meal. (Our kids eat real food, though, so we weren’t disappointed). We were skeptical about how good the food would be because of the wide variety of foods offered, but we were very pleasantly surprised. Not from a jar or thrown in the microwave, real food, seasoned well and good temps, cold food was very cold, hot food was hot.
We ordered a fruit boat, which we didn’t see on the menu. It was awesome, didn’t think to take a picture before it was gone. It was perfectly fresh and colorful.
Service was great, the waitress was soft-spoken, but very friendly and attentive. The owner stopped by the table before we left to make sure everything was satisfactory.
When we walked in, we were greeted by the owners and their family, the place is big and beautiful. Would make a lovely venu for a large party or wedding. The option for either indoor or outdoor covered seating was nice, will be great in the cooler months to enjoy the open air.
Everything was priced well, for the 5 adult meals we ordered plus the fruit boat and drinks the bill was right at $100, which is average to lower than average price for a nice early dinner. We will definitely return, probably bring the whole family. And we will definitely stop by in the morning for what sounds like an awesome coffee experience on one of our trips up to Chicago.

Loved our stay at Beans & Barley as a Harvest Hosts member. The restaurant was closed when we arrived , however our hosts graciously offered a light supper. The hosts were friendly , food was delicious, and servers were very personable at breakfast. We will definitely be returning!

We stopped in randomly while on a road trip and we’re glad we did! The food is great, the service was friendly and efficient, and they even gave me a refill on my coffee to go. When we arrived it was “seat yourself” and there were plenty of good tables. If you’re road tripping, skip the fast food and give them a try.

Stopped here during our road trip and couldn’t have picked a better spot. The food and service were excellent. I ordered the Wisconsin sandwich a brat burger topped with sauerkraut and it was outstanding.

We stayed here in our RV under the ‘Harvest Host’ program. The owners are awesome and their restaurant serves wonderful breakfast and lunch. If you are traveling I-57 you owe it to yourself to stop for a meal. Forgot fast food and go for reasonably priced, home cooked, absolutely delicious farm to table!

It use to be The Loft and they really made it beautiful. I like the idea that they don’t fry anything. My burger was open faced with Colby Cheese and bacon and potato chunks loaded with cheese and bacon. Service was great and it didn’t cost that much.

Delicious homemade food and a great selection of craft beers. The meatloaf sliders and 8 cheese macaroni were fantastic! Server was friendly and attentive. Would definitely return when traveling through the area.
