Southern Style Country cooking like fried chicken, country fried steak, chicken and dumplings and corn bread have become a lost art in this Country but thanks to Road Kill Cafe, I can still get my fix of the “best fried chicken ever”. The food is made fresh daily and when they run out, they are out.

The owners are wonderful people as well. My wife and I actually enjoy the family style seating at some of the larger tables. We have met some very nice folks who enjoy the same country cooking we do.

Fun little stop on our way back from seeing the Dinos in the Woods. Great $16 buffet with very good fried chicken. The place was packed, family ran, and you could tell the locals loved it. Southern cooking, southern hospitality, and if one more person calls me honey, I just move there!

We’re from Michigan and spend 3 months in Milton, Florida every winter. Road Kill Cafe was recommended to us a few years ago by friends. Now we drive over(about 70 miles)several times while we’re here in Florida. Absolutely the best, good ole country cooking anywhere we’ve found. The staff and owner are so friendly and efficient. Love that place.

We stopped by since it’s pretty close to home, and I’m unfortunately pretty disappointed in the food, but the lady working and atmosphere made up for it somewhat.

Food gets a 1/5 stars due to it being very bland. The fried chicken visibly has pepper in the breading, but doesn’t taste it, and definitely doesn’t have garlic or onion powder, paprika, anything that would enhance the flavor of the chicken. The green beans, lima beans, and cabbage all relied on incorporated meat to flavor them – not terrible, just terribly bland. The mashed potatoes are either boxed, or are seasoned to taste boxed. The Sister Schubert’s frozen rolls were good though, that’s the brand I always buy . Salad bar was fine, just basic bagged salad mix with generic toppings. I did get a nice mouthful of the former stem attachment of a tomato that made it’s way to the salad bar.

Service gets a 3/5 stars – not because it was bad, but there just really wasn’t any. It’s meant to be that way by design, though, considering it’s a buffet. The lady who brought us our tea and checked us out (I apologize for not catching your name!) was extremely nice and was working very hard running food and empty trays back and forth to the buffet, clearing tables, refilling drinks, checking folks in and out. Definitely a hard worker, but it’s just hard to rate service when we personally didn’t need any due to our short stay.

Atmosphere gets a 5/5. Small town buffet vibe, no expectations of showing up in your Sunday best where you help yourself to the food and desserts. It’s not “done” well, it just “is” that kind of place.

I’d be willing to try it again on a day where they have other foods – I’ve seen reviews of ham/cheeseburgers and fries. Definitely not the “best fried chicken everrrr”, though. I do appreciate the willingness to make such a bold claim, but having grown up elsewhere in Alabama I’ve had better.

Visiting family in Lillian. The food was delicious. The seating is family style (shared tables) which makes it nice to meet new people.
Buffet style. It’s an eat and go establishment so no dilly dallying. Yes you have time to eat at your own pace. Wait staff is polite and busy.
Recommend getting there early or you will be waiting. I would recommend it to anyone.
$12-15. Drinks included.
I left with a very full belly…

We were two. One went for the buffet, one went for the famous cheeseburger with giant chips.
Both of us, were super happy with the taste, quick and friendly service and environment.

Great buffet! Very casual, down home atmosphere with delicious southern cuisine. Fried chicken was amazing!! They have very limited hours, lunch only, so do not procrastinate!

Daily lunch buffet (only) which includes a drink and dessert (sheet cake). Only open 11-1. It feels like you’re stepping back in a simpler time; very small, neat building, with friendly and kind servers and the 2 owners were very nice. If you go after church on Sunday, you get a dollar off your meal.
