Willy Bites reporting from Tapioca Roots.

You walked in for a cute little drink and left $12 lighter holding a cup of sugar with identity issues. Respect.

The Vibe:
Clean spot. Modern wood panel walls, Edison bulbs, comfy booth seating. The Valentine heart decor is doing the most, but at least they’re trying. It feels Instagram-friendly without being cringe. Good place to sit and pretend you’re “just grabbing something light” before ordering 900 calories in liquid form.

The Drink (that chocolate boba you’re flexing):
Presentation? Solid. Chocolate drizzle inside the cup, thick milk base, pearls sitting like little black landmines at the bottom.
Taste? Sweet. Very sweet. Borderline “are we celebrating something?” sweet. The tapioca pearls look properly cooked, not those sad hard-in-the-middle ones some places serve. Texture matters. They passed.

Would I get it again? Yes. Would I get it at 8am? Absolutely not unless I’ve made questionable life choices.

Menu Pricing Reality Check:
$12 for corn + mango chamoy.
$22 for 2 tapiocas + 1 crepe.
$44 combos like they’re selling concert tickets.

Look, this isn’t 2008 bubble tea pricing. But this is the RGV. You feel it. You start doing math in your head like you’re reviewing a warehouse lease.

Food Case (that pan dulce setup):
The conchas looked legit. Fresh, not dried out. If they keep that consistent, that’s a win. Pair that with a tea and now we’re talking.

Extras:
Popping pearls +$1.50. Jelly +$1.50.
Translation: every topping is a small financial decision.

Overall Verdict:
Good quality. Clean environment. Trendy enough. Prices creeping into “special treat” territory, not everyday stop unless you’re emotionally attached to boba.

Willy Bites Score: 8.2/10
Strong sugar game. Slight wallet pain. Still worth the visit if you’re craving something fun and indulgent.

Now go drink some water after that

The area looked neat and clean. The drink menus have a lot of information and I would recommend asking about an item before placing your order. I ordered a Thai tea with boba but didn’t realize that it would be blended instead of on-ice. It was definitely good but I was expecting the drink on ice. I also ordered the corn in a cup and it was pretty good. It’s a decent size portion you can share. Some menu items are up on the wall but the full menu is available on the front counter. Overall, good selection and I look forward to trying more items from the menu.

First time here and I was impressed with the service and my drinks. The drinks were so delicious I liked the taro in a slush form with the jelly’s. The raspberry dpom was refreshing and fruity.

45 min wait time, it’s a little pricey but the flavor is nice and the sandwiches have a good amount of cheese to meat ratio giving the right amount of juicy interior.

I’ve been coming here for the past year and it never fails! I always get the Coconut Nutella Boba and occasionally their Nutella crepe. Definitely my favorite place when me and my friends need to catch up. Prices are amazing too!!

First of all they don’t want to be reached. All their phone numbers are out of service and they have advertised flavors on their menu that they don’t even have. Takes a long time to receive order, not enough employees. Horrible drinks with very little, nasty boba. Should’ve listened to the reviews 🙁

Terrible costumer service. The workers there got 2 out of our 3 drinks wrong, we asked for strawberry lychee with normal boba and we received strawberry kiwi. We kindly told them they got it wrong and they started to act rude. They came back with our strawberry lychee tea but only put popping boba, and our nutella coffee which had no boba even though we asked for it, they only had our oreo coffee right.
