I wanted food for the Lunar New Year, and the other places I wanted to eat at were closed. I had only been here once before. This place is a long drive away from me, an initially I was really excited to eat the bao that I ordered, since this establishment has bao in the name..
I spent nearly $100.
When I finally got home, NOTHING Was good. I have had chinese food all over the country and I’ve had this kind of experience only a handful of times. My “Mongolian beef” was not Mongolian. It looks like curry. The picture doesn’t do it justice. It is a greenish yellow tint in real life. The pork dumplings were undercooked (Dangerous for pork) and the flavor was not good.
I called to get at least a partial refund but they want me to drive to them, and I don’t think they planned on giving me a refund anyway. I live an hour away and I’m not doing that. I just disputed it with my bank.
The manager or whoever was also kinda weird asking me personal questions while I was ordering, and eventually tried to get my number. Lol.

We visited the Windward Parkway location and had an excellent dining experience. We ordered the beef skewers, lamb skewers, beef tendon skewers, grilled Pacific saury, iron plate squid, and tofu skin skewers, and every dish was outstanding. The flavors were well balanced, and the food was prepared perfectly. In addition, the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, which made the visit even more enjoyable. We will definitely be returning.

I ordered delivery tonight and specifically called ahead to request no spice or very little spice on the Bamboo Flounder. The restaurant confirmed this was possible.

The reality was the complete opposite. The Bamboo Flounder was extremely spicy and filled with an unbelievable quantity of hot peppers, which I had to pick out just to try and eat it. Shockingly, it wasn’t just that dish—every single entree we ordered contained a similarly excessive amount of spice and peppers.

The food was inedible, and my specific instructions were completely disregarded. It was a total waste of money. This level of inattention to a customer’s request is unacceptable. I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be ordering from here again. (The only saving grace was the wonton soup, which thankfully arrived without any peppers.)

Really sweet server Alice! Compared my smile to a Malay artist. Had lots of fun joking around and the food is very good. Note under new management only cash tips!

We have been coming here for years under the new name and the previous name. Some of the staff are the same.
Our favorite dish is Chongqing chicken. We have ordered it here at least a dozen times.
After today’s experience we won’t be returning.
They served us a dish that looked similar to Chongqing chicken.
Once we tasted it, we realized it wasn’t Chongqing chicken.
It was chopped up chicken wings but it had the same spices and appearance.
When we realized this, we immediately told the server. English is a second language for most of them. Not a bad thing but when they can’t get your order right it’s an issue.
We heard some terse conversations in the back and it was a bit loud.
Someone that we had never seen before came out and said we were delivered the wrong dish.
We did receive an apology.
We did not want the alternate dish.
We did not expect to pay for it as we did not eat it.
When the check came we were still charged for it.

Another sichuan style dish is kung pao chicken. We have ordered it many times there. This time it came sticky, sweet, kind of like the Americanized version. This is not what we wanted. It was a good run while it lasted. The authenticity is starting to fade. Not sure what’s going on.

Love the food at Bao GoGo in Alpharetta! You don’t have to travel to Duluth or Buford Highway to enjoy authentic, high-quality Chinese cuisine. My favorites include the spicy numbing flounder and stir-fried green beans, among many others. The spice level can be adjusted if you ask, so it’s perfect for any taste. I usually grab a boba tea from the same plaza, which pairs perfectly with the meal. The staff is friendly and attentive, making it an all-around great dining experience!

Food was alright.
Service was alright.
Atmosphere was alright.
Prices were too high for the flavor/experience.

Food:
Got the Sichuan chili wontons, fried eggplant in sweet and sour sauce, and gold mountain chicken.

The Sichuan chili wontons had no chili flakes or chilis in general, covered in a curry sauce for some reason?? And tasted nothing like Sichuan style food. Somehow they were the best item I had there, still.

The eggplant had a good texture and flavor, except the dish was filled heavily with lemongrass, to the point that it left my mouth numb lol …

The gold mountain chicken was fine.

The restaurant have a clean atmosphere, but for some reason they only played southern country music … Tough choice for a Chinese restaurant.

I ordered this through a food delivery service, I think through UberEats or something along that line. So, the prices were up-charged through the app, so I’m not going to be able to comment on prices. But I can comment on the food. I wanted to get take-out delivered to me because I’d had a long day and wanted something that would be comforting and delicious. I was disappointed that the fried pork dumplings were seemingly not made in-house, and the chicken with broccoli was lacking in savory flavor. I wish that there was more richness to the sauce. The chicken and broccoli itself were cooked fine, but the sauce makes the dish, and it was lacking. The white rice was fine, and it ended up being a lot of food. Overall, I was a little disappointed with my experience, but I imagine it’s different from eating inside the restaurant.

We used to love this place. There is a new owner and the food was simply not up to the standard. Not only was our order taken wrong twice, the dumplings were quite bad. They have started using poorer substitutes in their hot and numbing vegetable and the taste was below average. Will not return.

The worst thing is that we now have to look for a new Chinese food place which serves good vegetarian options. Oh well.
