Denver’s newest little secret: a sushi & cocktails speakeasy called Origami Den tucked underneath Sushi Hai in the Highlands where the space sets the mood with soft lighting, sprinkles of cherry blossoms, 1000 hanging origami cranes, and the traditional Japanese tea rooms that make you feel like you’ve slipped into a hidden world: part art installation, part night-out escape, and entirely unforgettable. From the intimate yet whimsical vibes to the most impressive food and cocktails menu, Origami Den is an absolute dream for date night or your next girls’ night out.

We’ve been so excited to check out Origami Den and finally made it out! To say our expectations were exceeded is an understatement. From the minute we walked in, we knew we were somewhere special. The food, the service, and the vibe were impeccable! We enjoyed every bite & sip and will definitely be back!

I can’t recommend this spot enough. It’s hidden below a sushi restaurant, and once you go down a few steps of stairs, you will be welcomed with a gorgeous decor of orgiami cranes all over the ceiling and walls and cherry blossom. It screams date night, or having a bunch of friends to share their impressive menu! I have gone twice already and I am obsessed. Do not skip their dessert, a sorbet with olive oil and CAVIAR.

Very unique and flavorful sushi with nice cocktails! They had a fun atmosphere but we were seated near the entrance so it was a bit noisy. They were able to adjust several dishes to accommodate for my gluten allergy, and also had the option to order several gluten free sushi rolls and dessert from Sushi Hai next door.
The venue is behind Chipotle and down a set of stairs in case you are looking! We had no problem finding street parking within a few blocks. They are only open on Saturday for now, but making a reservation was simple.

This is such a fun concept… A Sushi speakeasy! The menu is so creative and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is super vibey, great for gathering with friends (we had a girls night out), a date night or if you just want to impress someone!
Feels elevated without being overly priced or pretentious, something that is kind of rare here in Denver. Great cocktails as well, geisha lips is one of my new favorite drinks in Denver! Highly recommend this spot!!

Only giving this 2 stars since the food was average. Both the filet mignon nigiri & dragon’s breath rolls are good, however, I’ve had better. The service was not great as the staff messed up our order on several occasions and added an additional item to our bill. Additionally there is a surcharge on the bill which is apparently to run credit cards (not disclosed on actual menu). Had to wait 20 minutes for order to be taken and had to ask for my water to be filled and the restaurant was not super busy. Overall I do not recommend this place and will not be back.

Great place to go to. The food was great and played well. The wait staff was attentive, and the bartender was amazing. I don’t know how she kept up. She knows what she is doing and the drinks were great. There were 2 private rooms that u did not use but saw a large party in one of them. The origami on the ceiling was appropriate. It’s down stairs. Don’t miss.

We went here because we saw some videos of the restaurant and it was so beautifully done. The decor was amazing and very unique, the workers were well informed with details about the food, pairing drinks, and overall were so kind and helpful when it came to picking out what to have. We also love trying new things and new drinks and their cocktail menu and sake pairing was amazing.
The owners even stopped by some of the tables, making sure their customers were having a good time and honestly it was so sweet to see.
It was a great experience overall and I’m glad I came across their video on Instagram. We have started recommending this place to our friends, family and colleagues and so far they have all enjoyed the experience as well.

Tucked away like a delicious secret, Origami Den is my new Fave!
From the moment you step inside, the speakeasy vibe sets the tone: intimate, moody, and effortlessly cool.
And then there’s the sushi.
Every bite feels intentional. The fish is impossibly fresh, and the presentation is perfect!
The drink program deserves its own applause. Thoughtfully crafted cocktails especially the Gray Whale Gin Cocktail!
They also have a beautifully curated sake selection to elevate the entire experience, pairing seamlessly with the menu. The staff is knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely excited to guide you through both food and drink!!
Origami Den isn’t just dinner; it’s an experience. It’s where you bring someone you want to impress, celebrate something special, or simply remind yourself why dining out can still feel magical.
Denver is lucky to have this spot—and if you know, you know. ✨

Finally made it out last Saturday and it exceeded my expectations! We got the Tensei Temaki, Origami Trio, Filet Mignon Nigiri, Dragon’s Breath, and their new Uni Butter Popcorn. All so good!
I’m a big fan of uni and they did not disappoint. I can say with confidence they have the best tasting uni in town. The Uni Butter Popcorn was my favorite. It’s probably the simplest app you could get, but I could eat buckets of it if I could with my sake.
If you’re looking for a new experience and great sake (get a bottle of the Onikoroshi) go here!
