I sincerely enjoyed my dinner at Jack’s On-the-River on Thursday evening.
My wife Sonya and I had our wedding reception at Jack’s and so; it will ALWAYS be OUR SPECIAL PLACE to dine out.
The food is fresh and tasty as well as the staff.
They are constantly trying to make you feel like you are at home with family and far exceeded our expectations for customer service.
Thank you Jack’s for giving us ALL a perfect dining experience.

Hot dinners, different size plates of catfish at different prices.
We all ordered the 3 piece dinner 15.99 each with the choice of 2 sides.
Also a blooming onion for 10.00 which was very hot and mild in flavor.

We got there super early to beat the dinner rush. We ordered a basket of cheese sticks, some teas, I had a small catfish plate, my husband had salmon, and my son had a kids chicken tender plate. It was $75. The girl who waited on us was phenomenal, very nice and attentive. But my goodness $75 for three tiny pieces of catfish, two chicken fingers, a piece of salmon and some frozen cheese sticks? That’s $25 a plate, and one was a kids meal! For that, I could have gone to the most expensive place in town, actually enjoyed my dinner, and been served on a real plate!

It was my first time eating here. Initial thoughts were of the crowd of people waiting outside to be seated but once we approached the restaurant grounds my husband and I were pleasantly greeted outside for our name and how many would be dining (2) we waited maybe 10 minutes and were taken inside, seated, given menus and orders taken. When I say this was one of the fastest, prompt, very pleasant restaurants I’ve been in. Very busy restaurant but service is top notch, professional, quick, laid back setting, food was delicious, fresh, hot. You refill your own beverages at your table with a pitcher of tea and cups of other beverages and ice left at your table. We enjoyed our food and service. % One on my list to remember to.

Wait wasn’t too bad. We got there about 5:30pm. The crowd and wait only got larger after. The lady putting our names on the wait list was amazing, kind and relayed honest info about wait times and stuff. The waitress was busy but was still efficient and helpful with us, checking in a couple of times. Greg got the whole catfish plate, slaw, fries and hush puppies. I got catfish fillets and oysters (fried), cheese grits, fries, hush puppies and an order of sweet pickles. We liked the fillets better than the whole catfish, but everything was delicious. Can’t wait to visit again!

It’s been awhile since I’ve been there so my critique might be a bit unfair. The place was packed for a Thursday afternoon which was a good sign. I’m sure the food is always great but mine wasn’t. My wife’s steak was great. I had the seafood platter and my shrimp, scallops and fish were really way overcooked. The fried oysters and deviled crab were pretty good and so were the cheese grits. Overall the meal was fine but not great because I really was expecting a bit better. Being from Apalachicola but living in Orianna for the last 30 years, I might have set the bar a little too high. It might be a good while before I get back or maybe I’ll just eat the steak next time.

Called and called and called and got nobody cause it was just a busy signal, so I drove all the way there cause I figured they were busy and couldn’t answer and when I get there they tell me they aren’t taking to go orders, So that’s why the phone was took off the hook. So it was either wait behind 50 or more other ppl or nothing. Food may be somewhat good but it’s not wait behind 50 or more ppl good. I was finally gonna try the bone in surf n turf and a few other fish plates but I guess they figure they get enough business, the heck with ppl that don’t wanna or cant dine in. Won’t try again!
