Wow. We have lived in Wausau for 15 years and we finally just tried Glass Nickel pizza for the first time last night. We had given up on pizza restaurants but finally found one we love. The Thai pie tastes just like pad Thai which we love. They offer 10 inch pizzas so you can order fresh pizzas from the menu in different flavors. (Pizza by the slice just doesn’t taste fresh). All the veggies were crisp and fresh, not mushy. People claim on reviews that it’s expensive but I disagree. The 10” is 6 slices and is 15. We got two 10” and a beer each. It was still less than Five Guys.

Giving 1 star because it shouldn’t be so difficult to make a reservation. Called on Wednesday evening just before 6:00 and was placed on hold for 9 minutes. Hung up and called back at 7:30 and was told that I needed to call back in the morning and talk to Dave or Mandy. I called back Thursday just before noon only to find out that Mandy does the reservations and she was out of town. I was out on hold again and then told I needed to email Mandy. ???? It’s that hard to take a reservation? Forget it, we will go somewhere else that wants out business. It shouldn’t be that hard.

I dined in at Glass Nickel Pizza in Wausau,WI on January 27th. I was very impressed by the quality and taste of the pizza that my daughter and I ordered. As far as I am concerned, Glass Nickel Pizza is the best pizza in the Wausau area!!! The staff was very accommodating and friendly also!! Definitely coming back!!!

Cute little small town pizza restaurant. My wife and I stopped in while here for a wedding. They have a large menu with good options. I opted for a 10″ pepperoni, while my wife got the chicken Parm.
The thin crust pizza had good flavor, and felt like a nice step above the more fast food pizza options, a solid 7/10.
My wife rated her chicken Parm a 6.5/10.
There was only one server when we went but she was attentive and the environment gave you the throwback feel of older pizza diners.
We would come back if we ever swing through Wausau again.

We wanted pizza on our day trip to Wausau down from the north woods, Not from a chain and boy did GNP deliver. I haven’t had such a good pie since I was in Chicago and that wasn’t quite as good as my favorites in New York! Service was polite and prompt. Atmosphere as expected of an early Sunday afternoon.

The waitress was very nice. She had a cool rack of rainbow pens that she used for different kinds of dinner tickets. The beer selection was pretty good. And the pizza was also very good. I like the hand tossed crust.

Bad sauce tastes like plain tomato paste. Calzone was not actually closed up just kinda like you drop a pizza and part of it folds over to cover up most of the bottom

I have a wheat allergy so I was wary of going to a pizza place but I shouldn’t have worried. They have two alternate options for crusts and we tried them both. One is a cauliflower crust which has a nice bite to it, but is more like a cracker and a gluten free crust that is more chewy like a regular crust. Both were thin crusts and it was hard to decide which I liked best. I also had a salad. The grape tomatoes were a little squishy, which means they were probably getting old and they put croutons (which I’m allergic to) on my salad. I did tell the waitress that I am allergic to wheat, so they should’ve known to not put them on there, but in their defense, I didn’t specifically request “no croutons.” I just took them off along with the lettuce they touched. The ranch dressing was probably bottled ranch, so not that great, so the salad was, “meh.” The server was nice and friendly and brought our food out promptly. We will be coming back for sure. Check out how big those sausages are in the pictures! They were about the size of ping pong balls! Delicious!

The staff was so friendly! Great food! For gluten free I tried the cheese fries and a 10″ deluxe pizza. Very good. Will definitely go back again.
