The sushi was kinda gross. Maybe I just came on a bad night. I couldn’t even finish it. It was super chewy and smelled weird. The cream cheese on the rolls tasted spoiled. I’m a sushi lover so I know good sushi and this was not it. I may eventually try their sushi again because their reviews are great. Again…maybe I came in on a bad night. The customer service was great though! Very friendly workers.

This is a great local restaurant for fusion Japanese food. Conveniently located in the old town Ellicott city district, next to the Mochi donuts shop. Owned by Korean, so you can get the best of both Korean and Japanese food here.
We have been coming here for the past several years, never had bad experience. Foods are delicious and come in decent portions. Sushi and sashimi are very fresh. Price is reasonable. Good value for this area.
Service was attentive and efficient. Clean shop, comfortable atmosphere. Easy parking out front.

Update #2- Owner edited their original response to make it look like I’m out of pocket instead of actually reaching out. That is insane and clearly show where priorities lie.
Update- Owner can’t take criticism. I think if my review was fake, I wouldn’t be so specific. I was there with my whole family. My terrible experience at your establishment prompted me to leave a positive review for a much better restaurant that is leagues above you in food quality and service. A conscientious owner would have taken the time to reach out to see what went wrong as opposed to using that time to publicly dismiss a negative customer experience.
Original review-
Mid sushi at best. Some things are awful/not fresh. Teriyaki is gross. Spicy tuna roll is horrific and tastes mostly of mayonnaise. Service could be better. I was charged for food that was wrong and then charged again for the corrected item. The only good thing was the tempura. Which if I’m being honest was actually really awesome. So go for the tempura and nothing else. The atmosphere gives dental office waiting room vibes.

Been going here since 2007. Best place around for sushi. Always fresh. We have had multiple b-day parties here for my stepson. Recommend for any who is a sushi lover.

I was pleasantly surprised about this little gem in Ellicott City. This was the original owner of the Niko in Normandy shopping center who was running a great operation there until it was shut down. I ordered a boat if sushi and it had fresh fish with decent flavored rice. The uni was a nice touch which we ordered a la carte

My friend and I came here before checking out their neighbors at ellimochi. We tried their shrimp tempura roll and I believe it was their Kabuki roll. Everything is super fresh, friendly owners and great atmosphere. I would have to say this is the best sushi restaurant I’ve ever visited. Definitely will be visiting more often in the future. Thank you!

Food was really good and it was filling but a lil heart can b put in the service…orange white roll and Double trouble were delicious and so were the veggie noodles with a perfect crunch of broccoli & toasted sesame seeds. We were asked for drinks before even taking a seat and didn’t even ask if we wanted any dessert.

I went on a Friday afternoon during a slow spell. The staff was very friendly and the beef yakisoba was delicious. I generally am not a fan of miso soup, but this place had it down with a mild flavor and was refreshing with the ginger salad. I am a child so I also ordered a bottle of jello soju and the fried ice cream for dessert. I would totally recommend this place and will be coming back anytime I want a nice Japanese meal.

I came to Niko Restuarant with my family, and we were greeted and felt very welcomed by Howard, the sushi chef/owner. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very peaceful with some decorations, and there is music softly playing in the background.
We were seated promptly, and the menu is very straight forward with two sides. There is a separate a la carte menu that you need to ask for that lists all the various special rolls and nigiri pieces. The prices are very reasonable for the sushi, and they also serve hot food for those who don’t eat sushi.
The sushi taste very fresh, and I would highly recommend the Chirashi Sushi because it contains a good amount of variety with enough fish to serve one person. I will definitely be returning to Niko Restaurant whether it’s dining in or taking out.

Loved Niko! Came with my family, and we tried the Katsu Donburi, the Chirashi, and some sushi rolls. Everything was delicious, came out quickly and we were served with friendly faces and smiles. When they heard we were celebrating a birthday, we were given ice cream on the house to celebrate too. Highly recommend, will be back!
