Not an expert but seems much more authentic than your typical Vietnamese resto – aggressive use of strong herbs and mountain of fresh veggies come with every order. There are many unique dishes on the menu that you don’t often see. The fish sauce on the table combined with the hot sauce was an amazing all purpose dip to everything we ordered as well. Didn’t give it 5 stars only because I personally don’t like some of the strong herbs and some dishes having liver mixed in, but definitely give this place a try.

Anh Hong holds a special place in San Francisco’s food scene — and in my heart? I can say it’s the best Vietnamese restaurant! With over 30 years of history (originally on Geary Street in the Tenderloin), this Vietnamese gem is now nestled in the Outer Richmond.

What keeps me coming back is their warm hospitality and fresh, flavorful dishes. I especially love the DIY spring rolls — there’s something so fun and satisfying about assembling your own with fresh herbs, vermicelli, and grilled meats (lamb chops, beef rolls, sausages )or shrimp. One of my favorites is the Grilled Shrimp on Sugarcane (Chạo Tôm) — juicy, sweet, and perfectly grilled.

Whether I’m catching up with friends or craving comfort food with my family, Anh Hong is always top of my choice. I appreciate what this restaurant has built over the years and I love amazing food. Highly recommend you give it a try!

My first time here and we had an early dinner with a few friends.
Very nice decor and comfortable seating.
The young sever was very friendly and helpful. All the dishes was beautifully presented and tasty! The beef roll was very juicy. The shrimp paste grilled on sugar cane was a tad dry .
The sour plum soda was very well balanced!
Everyone should come try!
The food here was better than the restaurants in Saigon & Da Nang where I spent a month in 2022!

This place kicks ass. Owner was super nice and accommodating. My wife and I waited a bit to be seated, the place was ROCKING, there was a family party ,and damn I wish I was part of this family!!! The Anh Hong Family/ Staff was so nice. Great time here tonight. 3rd time back, and was the best time yet .

Good food and experience for wrapping your own Banh Trang (rice paper) rolls. Many different selections of beef and other meats. Raw beef appetizer was a first for me. Like eating a steak uncooked, seasoned with spices and lemon. I’d rather have it cooked or med rare. Good service and staff

Tried this restaurant on a whim because it was highly rated by the Infatuation. Went on a Wednesday night around 7 PM and was dismayed to see that the restaurant was empty! The food was really delicious, lots of vegetables, we got the beef and chicken which were both prepared delightfully and the squares of vermicelli were also delicious. The beef was thinly sliced beef wrapped around shredded radish. For two people we got two meats and had plenty of leftovers. Would highly highly recommend, and hope to see the restaurant busier next time!

I have been to this place for more than a decade. I loved their 7 beef course set menu, so I could try all courses of beef. Unfortunately they don’t do that anymore. Each course can be ordered individually. So I picked the ones that I liked the most. Bo Tai Chanh. The raw beef. Um. I never say no to this. I also ordered grilled pork, beef sausages, beef wrapped, and shrimp with sugar cane. It’s a lot for two people. I like the hands-on wrap it yourself experience. The services were above standard. I highly suggest to rsvp. This place is always packed. If you can’t find parking, there’s a small parking lot about up a block where people go to golf. I wish they had 7 beef courses meal set again.

This is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in San Francisco (they don’t serve pho here), specializing in fresh spring rolls. I’ve been coming here for almost 10 years, since they were in downtown—actually, it’s been over 10 years now… time really flies. All of their dishes are among the top 5 in San Francisco! Many famous restaurants post on Instagram and make a big show, but do their dishes really live up to the hype? I hope they focus more on the quality of their food instead of just showing off on Instagram. Anyway, Anh Hong is a must-try restaurant in San Francisco, and you will never regret it!
