Lea liked to tell his customers he perfected the ham sandwich. “I told Miss Georgia,” said Johnson, “that we were going to serve one kind of sandwich.” His now famous ham sandwich consists of a combination of sliced and ground home-baked ham with mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickle. The only other items on the menu are a plate lunch with choice of meat served with two-three sides.

Great lunch spot for a good sandwich and some pies! I actually got a coconut pie as well as a pecan pie and they are delicious.
I will say that I’m knocking off a star because my dad went to the restroom and the bleach smell was so strong that it irritated his eyes and throat! He came out to my car and I told him that I was going to also use the restroom before getting back on the road again. He said, “I wouldn’t recommend it because the bleach smell is VERY STRONG.” I went ahead and still used it and I had to close my eyes due to the bleach and my eyeballs still hurt for 5 minutes after leaving!!! Please tone down the bleach and clean the bathrooms at night or something! It was very intense.
I will say that Vicky is great. She had that southern charm and I thought she was pretty cool as well.

A Louisiana legend! Consistently good food – been getting the same ham sandwich here as long as I’ve been alive. Pies are known nationwide and people drive for miles to get these – great for special occasions. Good place for a Sunday or Saturday lunch. Check it out!

I think they are coasting on reputation and rely on locals with few choices. This was the most sweetest red beans I have ever eaten. The pie needed more lemon flavor and they failed to clean the pecans when making the pie as a piece of shell almost broke a tooth.

Ate breakfast then brought a coconut, lemon, peach pie home and another coconut for my sister. Love this place and that it has been in business almost 100 years I believe. I have fond memories of their pies for at least 50 years.

Our pilgrimage group from The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Natchitoches Louisiana stopped here for lunch after visiting Our Lady of Guadalupe in Forest Hill. The food and atmosphere was perfect for us to just sit and visit before we went to our went to our next stop. We will be back!

Great sandwich and service. Stopped in over the weekend on a trip to NO and it did not disappoint. We stopped twice!! Great sandwich and also lunch on Saturday was delish. Pork roast, rice gravy and Lima beans. Perfect! Chocolate pie was perfect!

Got an apple pie and was excited because heard they had really good pies. I was not impressed with their apple pie and threw half of it away. Probably not the best seller and wanna try some of the other pies on their menu. Need to add some cinnamon or something to the apple pie.

I stopped at Lea’s for lunch and the food and service was phenomenal. I ordered several pieces of pie to go as I was beyond full. I cannot decide which of the 4 pieces I liked best! I got back to Texas and realized I left my debit card. Amy to kind enough to mail. This place restored my faith in people going the extra mile. Thank you Amy!
