THIS PLACE IS RUBBISH!

A total dump, needs a thorough cleaning, a real disappointment. We traveled from the US to this restaurant because we saw review that the experience was nice but were totally let down. The drinks were served warm. The food was tasteless with no seasoning. The eggs were totally burned on the burner for the fried rice, but worse of all was the food portions. 1 plate of food was split amongst 6 adults, less than 3 spoonfuls of each serving. The entire dinner serving could fit in the palm of my hand. Yes the picture is the entire meal!! For $43! People have reported in reviews that they leave feeling hungry and I see why. What a scam. Do yourself a favor, if you want a nice meal and great service- book somewhere else. The restaurant requires reservations but I don’t understand why. We were the only ones there other than 3 other people and the chef was in a rush to cook everything. When asked why the serving was so tiny, the chef responded that they’re used to that complaint because the food is so expensive they give little food. What a waste. Avoid at all costs.

Such a fun and memorable experience at Ichioku Japanese Teppanyaki Restaurant! The atmosphere was lively and entertaining, and the food was delicious from start to finish. Our chef “Wunna” was AMAZING — incredibly talented, funny, and engaging. He really made the whole experience special and kept everyone laughing while cooking. Highly recommend coming here, especially if you get Wunna as your chef. We’ll definitely be back!

Seriously awesome. Chef was amazing. Loved the experience. Took our grandson who we wanted to show Tepenyaki to and he loves it. Highly recommended. They don’t normally open on New Year’s Day but they did and so happy they decided to. Highly recommended!

>> Fantastic! Fiery Feast and fun at Ichioku Teppanyaki (Japanese cuisine). If you’re looking for more than just a meal, Ichioku Teppanyaki delivers an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you’re seated around the hot plate, you know you’re in for a treat. The sizzling sounds and enticing aromas of the meat and vegetables being expertly cooked right before your eyes are just the beginning.

What truly sets Ichioku apart is the interactive and entertaining approach of the chefs. It wasn’t just about watching delicious food being prepared; it was a performance! The skillful knife work and, yes, the playful bursts of fire, added an exciting dimension to the meal. It’s not every day you get dinner and a show!

Beyond the culinary theatrics, the staff at Ichioku were genuinely lovely. They were attentive and went the extra mile to make the experience fun, even engaging us in playful interactions with bowls – a delightful and unexpected touch that added to the lively atmosphere.
The joy of watching fresh ingredients transform into flavorful dishes on the hot plate is undeniable. Each bite of the perfectly cooked meat and vibrant vegetables was a testament to the freshness and skill on display.

Ichioku isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an event. It’s perfect for a fun night out with friends or family and specially kids, offering delicious food and a healthy dose of entertainment. If you appreciate skillful cooking, engaging service, and a bit of fiery excitement, Ichioku Teppanyaki is a must-try in heart of Newtown. You’re guaranteed to leave with a full stomach and a smile on your face.

Don’t come here if you are expecting fine dining or Michelin star rating! Don’t get me wrong, food was great and flavourful no issues just not “wow” factor quality! Service and Atmosphere is a 10/10 for sure! Great for small to mid groups, in a intimate space! Best to book too online or call. Overall we had a blast, very entertained and surprisingly well fed despite the portions. It is BYO for alcohol but they do have fizzy drinks for options. Also you might need a change of shirt/top! Don’t be wearing your Sunday bests either!

Went here for a birthday dinner with my friends last night and we had an amazing time! Our chef Wunna was so skilled and absolutely hilarious and made the experience even better! The food tasted delicious and was filling. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for celebrations or even just a great dinner!

Located in the heart of Newtown, the stars provided are for the amazing hospitality and service by the staff. Fun and exciting games are played in the midst of dinner. We ordered Banquet B, a Meat Set and a Seafood Set. Although the food was tasty, the menu was a tad overpriced and wasn’t very filling for our family of 4. We felt very hungry after dinner. The coke I received was also flat.
P.S. Call to book ahead of time for a reservation. Let the staff know if it’s a birthday or special event for a special someone and they’ll prep up the space for you.

Maybe I have tried Teppanyaki in Japan and other countries, this Teppanyaki disappointed us. The food quality and even portions didn’t meet our expectations. However, the chef worked very hard on the tricks/games with the guests and cheered them up. It’s good but it’s even better if eggs are not wasted.

Lovely food, efficient attentive services, nice servers. Our chef was lovely but not as lively and loud as the other guy who looks more Japanese. It was still a fun night out with lots of flames, egg and bowl throwing. Who says you can’t play with your food!? 🙂
