Had lunch at Benares in Wyckoff and really enjoyed it. The lunch special is now $13.95, which is a great deal for what you get. The plate came with fresh naan, creamy dal makhani, paneer curry, and saag with veggies — all full of flavor and not too heavy. The onion salad with lemon and green chili on the side added a nice kick.
The staff was super friendly and kept us entertained, chatting and checking in just the right amount. You can tell they actually enjoy what they do.
They’ve also opened a banquet hall, which looks perfect for small parties or family gatherings. Overall, tasty food, good portions, and a fun, welcoming vibe. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area.

I had a wonderful solo lunch today to treat myself. I have been meaning to come back for a few years but timing never worked until today. Everyone was so friendly, the service was incredibly fast, and the food was delicious! I had the non-vegetarian lunch special for just under $18 and I got SO much food – an appetizer (samosas), main dish (chicken saag) that came with lentil soup, basmati rice, and naan. Top it all off with a delightful dessert, included in the special! Highly recommend.

We hired Benares for our October 2024 wedding and worked with Ranbir Uncle for two events, one at a Gurudwara and another for lunch buffet at The Grove in Cedar Grove. He was wonderful to work with!! We got to do a tasting with our family and choose our dishes. He suggested different things as we were hosting two events. The first day we felt the dishes were a little too spicy for our guests, so we asked them to make the lunch a little less spicy for our main wedding day and they did it with no hesitation. Absolutely an incredible company to work with and I would highly recommend them!

Very nice staff/service and very good food. Haven’t been to an Indian restaurant with seafood on the menu before. The crab dish was excellent and I’m looking forward to trying the other seafood options. The first time I ordered was take out which was well packed and delicious so that is another option. Overall I recommend checking it out. The Atom Bomb dessert was great as well as the homemade orange ice cream.

Located in the former retail space of Saffron at the Boulder Run Shopping Center in Wyckoff, this establishment is an offshoot of NYC’s Tribeca restaurant of the same name. The menu features contemporary authentic Indian cuisine with Tandoori specialties emphasizing the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, the city of Benares, and the name of the restaurant. The deep, narrow, 70-seat space is subtle and spare, with gentle lighting, upholstered chairs, and a long banquette. I arrived with a guest as first-timers to Friday Elite lunch, thanks to Sara and the Yelp team. Greeted at the door by the staff, we located a table to include my fellow Yelpers, Diane C, Juju K, and their guests. Consisting of a family-style menu, the appetizers were Eggplant Chaat, Banarsi Kachori, Soya Chaap, Pani Puri Shots, Koli Erach, and Konkani Shrimp. The main included Diwani Handi, Kadhai Paneer, Mix Dal, Chicken Kali Mirch, Lamb Rogan Josh, Rice Raita, and assorted Naan Breads. Rounding off the desserts included Atom Bomb and Mango Rice Pudding. We washed them down with Mango Rupee beer and Prosecco. The food was modern, well executed, very flavorful, tasty, and not too spicy. It was not too heavy or greasy and reminded us of balanced, home-cooked meals. Portions were generous, and we left satisfied and happy. The owner, Ranbir Bhatia, and his staff provide welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable service. We had a wonderful lunch experience and could recommend this place.

On a leisurely Saturday evening, we found it surprisingly easy to secure a reservation at this charming establishment. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a delightful surprise—a platter of crispy fryums accompanied by three delectable dips, all complimentary. The dips, with their tantalizing flavors, served as the perfect prelude to our dining experience.
For appetizers, we opted for the benarasi kachori and the misal pav. The kachori, boasting a harmonious blend of sweetness and spice, paired exquisitely with a dollop of yogurt, rendering it a flawless appetizer choice. The generous portion of misal pav impressed us both in quantity and flavor, setting a high standard for the courses to follow.
Moving on to the main course, we indulged in the paneer kadai and benarasi dum aloo, both served with complementary rice. The rich flavors and aromatic spices of these dishes delighted our palates, reaffirming our satisfaction with our dining choice. Additionally, we savored the aloo paratha and paneer kucha, which added further depth to our culinary journey.
Throughout our dining experience, the service remained exemplary, with prompt attention to our needs. The delectable cuisine, coupled with the efficient service, left us thoroughly impressed. This establishment unquestionably deserves a spot on the list of must-try Indian restaurants.
Furthermore, parking proved to be a non-issue, thanks to the ample free parking available outside the restaurant—a convenient perk that further enhances the overall dining experience.

So I was invited to give this restaurant a try. When I arrived I parked in the plaza lot. Walked in and was greeted and sat. The restaurant was very nice. My friend and I were served by a great group of servers and managers. We had a variety of food, but the shrimp and pepper chicken were the best! I enjoyed all the flavors and variety. This restaurant is byob. I truly enjoyed my time and my meal!

Went there for lunch special and was extremely pleased. Ordered 1 Non Vegetarian meal and 1 vegetarian meal. Both meals were absolutely flavorful and closer to North Indian taste. Service attentive but not overbearing. Portions were generous and we left satisfied and happy. Deducting one star as the lemon soda was little off in taste. Vegetarian lunch $14 and non veg $16

An old article from Boozy Burb about the opening of Benares came up in my hubby’s inbox. Since we love Indian food we had to try it. We had a delicious meal! Service was spot on, they answered our questions and helped with selection.
Fresh Lime Soda – refreshing drink
Mango Lassi – a bit too thick for me but hubby loved it
Tawa Scallops – delicious! my only comment, the scallops were frozen not fresh, but the spices were amazing
Garlic Naan – not as garlicky as i like but still good, especially dipped in the sauces
Goan Curry Shrimp – so good! the creamy sauce was different from what i usually order
Laal Maans – hubby love lamb and goat, but hate the bones. This dish is boneless lamb. He loved it! I’m not a lamb fan, but the sauce was delicious.
Will definitely come back when in the area.
