Bomb Bomb Bar is a delightful revival of a South Philly favorite
Reviews
The food was unreal. We did the Dungeness Crab upgrade and it was so worth it. Our table ordered the shrimp cocktail, crab cake, clams casino, stuffed calamari, and lobster & shells. I’m not exaggerating when I say the lobster & shells was everyone’s favorite. Total show-stopper.
For pasta sides we had the carbonara and the black ink pasta, plus broccoli rabe (which was shockingly delicious even for someone who normally skips it) and fries with Bomb spice .. AMAZING. The only mistake we made was not asking for the fries to come out earlier so we could dip them into all the leftover sauces from the table .
To finish, we shared the sundae with the works and wow… we all immediately wished we’d ordered our own. The fried/caramelized banana alone deserves its own fan club.
Service was fantastic, the energy was perfect for a celebration, and every single person left happy and full. Highly recommend for a special night out. Especially if you’re celebrating something big. We’ll absolutely be back.
Friendly and warm service and great old-school South Philly Italian vibes. Highlights were the clams casino, fried calamari, lobster & shells, and the sundae.

Hands down, some of the show stoppers came directly from the bar menu. You can’t go wrong with hot, mouth watering, fried mozzarella thats stringy pull takes you from one end of the dining room to the next. After decimating the mozzarella, the real special bite comes from the steaming roasted pork sandwich served with a side of its very own au jus. Flavorful, juicy just like a warm hug.
Some highlights from the dining menu, I just wouldn’t pass up on reordering in the future: the whole Dungeness Crab + Lobster Francese. Although requiring some work, the Dungeness Crab hits it out of the park on flavor + natural butteriness. Ditch the side of melted butter it comes with, you’d be doing a great disservice to yourself for not savoring the crabs delicious Sicilian inspired seasoning. As far as the Lobster Francese goes, this dish stands out as one of the more refined + naturally rich dishes we had this evening. Comprised of some of our most favorite ingredients (butter, capers, decadent lobster) the trifecta pairing of all three of these ingredients rewards your mouth with the most beautiful, delicate symphony of flavors. Too good to pass up, a staple that just can’t be missed.
Aside from these showstoppers, the true heart of Bomb Bomb derives directly from those serving table side. Jack our server did not fail us on menu recommendations. Linda, the walking heartbeat of Bomb Bomb… equally as entranced by the menu and prime advocate for Sicilian cuisine, will truly make your dining experience. Linda to Bomb Bomb is Dolores to Palizzi. IYKYK. You can’t have one without the other. Aislinn was the first smile to greet us and the last to bid our farewells. Ensuring our cups were never empty and our bellies always full! Thank you to this wonderful team for an incredible evening – wouldn’t have wished to celebrate my birthday in any other way!
The menu focuses heavily on Italian-American seafood dishes. I tried a seafood plate and it was rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Dishes like mussels in fra diavolo sauce and lobster francese are standouts, and the flavors feel traditional rather than overly modern.
The drinks are also fun, with Italian-inspired cocktails and frozen drinks that pair well with the food. Overall, Bomb Bomb Bar is a great spot if you want a cozy, authentic South Philly dining experience with classic seafood, strong drinks, and a nostalgic neighborhood vibe.
My pink pear marg was fabulous. The carbonara pasta, crab cakes and lobster francese were all hits, and while the fried calamari was good, sauce on the side would’ve been strongly preferred.
I wouldn’t ever order the herbed tomatoes again, as they were underripe and bland (understandable, given time of year). The crab cakes included a few delicious blistery cherry tomatoes that were so much better, and would make a terrific side option instead.
The ice cream sundae was tasty and cute, and the ideal sweet ending. I appreciated how kind and patient the service was! I’ll likely check out the bar menu next visit…
