For a recent funeral, we had a group of 24 family members in town. We wanted a place to have dinner where we could be seated together in a space that would be easy to move about and mingle. La Zingara Trattoria provided an excellent venue.
Manager Antonio and staff offered great service, kindness, consideration, attentiveness, and never blinked (well, maybe not more than twice) at some of our not-business-as-usual requests. Having spoken with Antonio weeks prior to make our reservation: we had use of half of their event room, were able to order off the menu, and they set everything up family style (at the spur of the moment) for us.
In as much as a restaurant could offer a comfortable at-home atmosphere, La Zingara did so. Antonio even took our whole-group photos, switching out between at least half a dozen phones, and they all came out great.
Thank you, La Zingara! I highly recommend this place for food and service.

As soon as I entered the establishment, I was greeted with very friendly, hello and friendly staff. Quiet and friendly environment People at the Bar recommended great choices from the menu. Sausage and peppers were excellent, Veal Vesuvio was outstanding, Chicken. Parm was very good, and eggplant with vodka sauce was fabulous. The wine recommendation and dessert was very good. Definitely returning soon.

Had reservations after a funeral with a large family gathering. This restaurant is very nice. The atmosphere, the people. And the food was amazing! There were some leftovers from the family style served food. Husband was first in line to grab leftovers. Alfredo rigatoni, chicken vesuvio, roasted vegetables, potatoes. Had appetizers and dessert as well. Great food!

First time here and this place is less than a mile from my house! My husband and I would pass by it every time we went to Tony’s and we would see so many cars there. Figured we gotta check this place out! Loved it! Very rustic and cozy vibe! Food and service was amazing! Truly felt welcomed! And the value was ..wow! For 3 ppl- We had Appetizers, entrees, and a bottle of wine – spent much less than dining at some bougie Italian restaurant in downtown Chicago! entrees are big portions too (I know mine was). How’d we miss not coming here! I think my husband and I found ourselves a new hangout for a cozy drink and dinner! Amiamo questo posto ♥️

First time dining here. The ambiance has a New York Italian neighborhood feel from 65 to 70 years ago which made the dining experience that much more enjoyable. I recommend the baked oysters for the appetizers, simply delicious. For the entree try the veal medallions. The food and service was very good. Also a great wine selection. We will definitely be returning.

The staff here is wonderful and the outdoor dining in an igloo is pretty awesome. Beautiful show being able to see the snow fall while sitting in a heated bubble! The calamari was not flavorful; the complimentary bread was delicious as was the Ravioli stuffed with lobster. I’d pass on the chicken vesuvio next time as it was quite bland and dry.

Only problem was it was a little loud. I can only imagine what it’s like full!
That being said, the food was delicious (we thought we could finish the appetizer and entrees. Spoilers: WE COULD NOT), the service was very good, and it was a very good place to be.
My partner said the Bolognese was the second best ever (the best no longer exists, sadly), and my own gnocchi was so rich!
Will probably be back!
Update: WE’VE BEEN BACK, and it was just as good as the first time!! Not to mention my leftovers (forgive me, it was some kind of cheese ravioli with artichoke hearts and sun-dried tomatoes, I forgot the name) are absolutely DELICIOUS second day! And my partner’s Bolognese was STILL THE BEST.

Lived in the area for several years now but never visited till today. Worth going there for not only the food but everyone there was superbly nice. Great place for a birthday dinner. Def. Want to go back soon.

The food here is very tasty and satisfying. My wife and I came here for the first time and we were very pleasantly surprised. The linguine we ordered was cooked al dente. You could tell that the bread was made from scratch inside the restaurant. The risotto was tasty and left me wanting more.
The decor is a bit too much. There is a statue near the entrance that actually frightened me a little. But aside from that, they have a piano in the dining room and windows with a nice view of the nearby street. The decorations and room color make it feel like home.
Everything considered, the overall experience of being here and eating was very nice and I would definitely recommend it.
