Spoleto has been preparing fine Italian cuisine since 1986 in the heart of downtown Northampton. We are known for the authenticity in preparing our classic dishes, as well as our ever-rotating daily specials. Just as you’d expect out of New England, we pride ourselves on using each season in The Pioneer Valley to bring fresh offerings to our kitchen and even our bar! Thoroughly disappointed
Used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the area
I ordered the cioppino
I was strongly misled by the menu as the item description featured salmon in the dish
There was maybe possibly what could’ve been summed up into one small bite of salmon in the entire dish
2 clams
2 mussels
2 shrimp
2 scallops
And what could be described as a small handful of “calamari”
And possibly a little more than a half cup of broth
The food was good(as it almost always is)
was just not worth the 34 dollars and did not match the menu description
On top of it they managed to also somehow overcook the mussels
Thoroughly disappointed as this place isn’t what it used to be and it saddens me to see another one of my local favorites go down hill 🙁
The dish also had a lot of jalepenos, spinach and onions and peppers
Didn’t get any tomato’s or scallions it seems
All in all it still tasted good, just disappointed
The girl taking my order also had no idea what I was ordering and it took 10 minutes to place an order for one item.

The ambiance inside is great! We came here on a Sunday night, maybe two other couples dining and one at the bar. Service was pleasant, and the food was surprisingly good. The shrimp was overcooked, but that’s a small offense when you get a half-sized appetizer, half-sized entree, and full-sized dessert for $30 bux! We ate everything on our plates and felt pleasantly satisfied. New Sunday tradition in the making!

We all enjoyed our meals. Service was good however our bill was padded. The price for drinks was $2 more than the menu stated. Also, the $40 bottle of wine should have only been $20, since it is half price on Wednesdays. The waiter corrected the bill with an honest apology. We will go back despite the mix up.

We went here for our wedding anniversary. The drinks were good, the food was phenomenal, and the service cant be beat! I had the shrimp scampi, and my husband had the short rib papadelle. Cant recommended either one enough. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, the short rib melted in your mouth! We wanted to order the creme brulee trio special, but they were sold out. We had the lemoncello tart instead, with the lemoncello pour. It absolutely blew us away! Very light, and lemony. Not overly sweet. Alexa was our server and bartender, and she did a phenomenal job! Very attentive. Thank you. Alexa, and thank you Spoleto for a wonderful anniversary dinner! 10/10!

I had high expectation of this place, having walked by it a million times and always caught pleasant smells wafting out from it, but my experience can be better classified as mediocre rather than pleasant. The decor and vibe is a bit lacking. You have all of the staples here like exposed brick and open kitchen layout, but it felt underwhelming rather than cozy or hip. The service left a lot to be desired. Despite being seated right next to the kitchen we rarely saw our server and it seemed to be a real inconvenience to them any time they did turn up. The food was good, not great, but good and tasty. I was a bit disappointed to see that the menu on their website is out of date and the dish that I had hoped to order had been dropped from the menu altogether. Overall this restaurant is fine and a serviceable option for a dinner out, but I would highly recommend checking out some of the other great options down town.

My Sister came up from SC and wanted to eat at a restaurant with a private room so we could do presents and such without interrupting other guests, so she booked the private room here.
We showed up and were taken to a table in the main dining area. We said there was a mix-up, as we reserved the private room and the waitress said they were too short staffed to put us in the private room.
The staff was extremely rude and made us feel like we were the problem because we weren’t happy about not receiving the room we booked.
At no point were we called or notified that the room was no longer an option.
After some back and forth, they agreed to move us to the private room, which is literally the same distance from the kitchen as the main dining area. Short staffing played no part here.
The room was cold and they turned the heater on but it did not heat up even by the time we left.
The food itself was okay, but we will never return after that “service” and not even an apology from anyone, just snark remarks.

Travellers, we made reservations here for a family celebration and it was a huge mistake. No one came to seat us when we went and asked for help the Maitre d pointed us to a table and we sat down and never saw a server again. They came to a close by table after 20 minutes but the server ignored us. She never came back with the other tables items either. The restaurant was almost completely empty. No customers. They told other folks there was a 45 minute wait for a table in an empty restaurant. When we asked they said they were short handed and the waitress walked off and never came back. This was embarrassing and uncomfortable and almost ruined our evening. After 40 minutes we went to another restaurant, fittzwillys, where we got served immediately in a friendly way and it was great. We used to come to spoletos all the time but this was the last time. The service was downright rude from the entire staff. It was like they didn’t want our business. So our advice to you is go somewhere else because even the reservation didn’t get us service.

I’d have given this restaurant 3 ☆s except the manager and staffed lied to us more than once. Drinks were fab, food was fab, but the 50 min wait for food in a nearly empty restaurant was not fab. After not being able to grab our wait staff’s attention for 20 min, I chased her down. She told me our order had been misplaced. The manager brought our food 15 min later and said hey, what can you do, I hired humans. After chasing down the waiter for our check, her story changed to, “oh, they made the wrong pasta…twice.” Our visit lasted an agonizing 90 min and we were comped ½ of one meal. Great food, horrific service. NOT worth the wait. And the lies.

We recently came here for dinner, and it was just ok. Our server was very sweet and nice but perhaps had not been trained very well, she was rather inattentive and we had to ask her to take away empty glasses and plates, etc. the drinks were good, and the food was disappointing- not bad just not that great
