The basic Margarita is not bad for an “on tap” premade drink..the orange is good but a tad sweeter. No premium margarita option on the menu…not sure if you can have a fresh margarita made.
The chips and salsa are not complimentary…the salsa verde is really good, the chips aren’t bad but were a tad stale…hearing them up would help.
The tacos…asada was really chewy…carnitas was pretty good, Al pastor was really good and the chorizo was more sweet than savory not too bad…
The wood board plates look cool but make a mess with your tacos and need an edge.
The Elote was amazing…I wish they served it with a platter of chips..it would be great for dripping.
I think it fits the neighborhood and has great potential

The staff and owner is extremely nice! Thought it would be more of a loud environment but it was more quiet and relaxed. We loved that the nachos were baked! Tried a couple different tacos and all were great! Will definitely be back!

This new taco place on Monroe street is terrific! I shared lunch here with my friend dave and we spent a couple hours with chips, tacos, and margaritas.

The chips were well made…and the salsa was exceptional…homemade and fresh and just enough heat. I loved the red…supper fresh and tomato-y

Tacos of course…the corn tortillas were exceptionally tender, and yet the held the toppings without fail…a perfect tortilla IMHO.

For fillings I had the Baja…so perfect in the crunchy fried coating that was not great at all and somehow didn’t get soggy in all the toppings! So delicious.

I also had a desayuno…which is pork belly and egg…I didn’t know what to expect, but I loved it. It turned out to be kind of a mini scrambled egg patty with slices of pork belly cooked into it. Great textures and toppings, and every piece of pork belly was a flavor bomb when I bit into it.

WE reordered to get a third taco, and I chose a cerditas which is pork carnitas. Delicate flavorful and just yummy!

The staff was super friendly and I can’t wait to go back!

This is a terrific restaurant!

You should see the wall of tequila. WOW. The tacos and chips & salsa were delish. Smart, nice staff. I was on lunch so in a hurry. The staff made my lunch great and I got back to work on time.

We went to try this new spot, unfortunately, the meat was very dry. We got asada tacos and it was very overcooked as was the pastor, it seemed to have just been reheated many times, it was like beef jerky, and we did not get the zepeda tortillas that are advertised. The nachos were very plain, and barley had any meat on them. Will not be going back.

We dined here for dinner on the second day of Taverna’s soft opening. We loved it! The food was delicious and service was attentive. Contrary to another review here, we loved the salsa roja – it is a little thicker than typical salsa, but all three of us loved it. I was especially impressed at how smooth the service was considering that our waitress was still learning.

Loved the margs and staff was super fun/easy to talk to! Perfect to sit at the bar!

Tacos were great as well. With Monroe street getting more expensive the price was more than fair for what you get.

Would have taken pictures but we ate it too quick!

The restaurant looked fun and inviting when I visited around 5pm on a Saturday. The server mentioned they had just opened about six weeks ago. I was dining alone as my wife was out of town. When I arrived, there was only one other couple present.

The server who took my order was delightful. I tried three types of tacos: Korean beef, asada, and pastor. The asada was a bit dry, but the pork was good. I also ordered a top-shelf margarita and appreciated being able to select the tequila. The margarita was well-made.

However, the most disappointing aspect was the bartender, an older gentleman who didn’t acknowledge me at all, even though I wasn’t far from the bar. In my view, how staff treats their customers significantly influences whether I’ll return. Given this experience, I’m not so inclined to visit again.
