The food was exactly as I was hoping for. Full of flavor and a solid portion! Service was outstanding and Parker went above and beyond to accommodate. He’s a real people person! Atmosphere was relaxed, felt upper scale without making me feel like I needed to be fancy. Great menu. Great specials that almost sounded better than the standard menu. We had a great lunch!

Fabulous lunch at Opa today! We had the hummus to start, it was very good but a bit heavy on the garlic for my taste, but still, enjoyed it very much. I had Moussaka for my main meal – it was rich, flavorful and the portion was so generous I am taking half of it home for dinner. My husband has the gyro and as a gyro aficionado – was able to fully endorse the Opa gyro as top quality! He is also leaving with dinner as the gyro was as big as his head! Our server, Parker, was not only incredibly friendly but impressive in his efficiency. He was the only wait staff when we arrived and it was busy! But at no time did we feel that we were kept waiting nor were we unattended in any way… Cheers to you Parker! A lovely lunch is made all the more wonderful when accompanied by excellent service! We will of course be back!!!

Opa is the best restaurant in downtown Waterville which has a plethora of good restaurants. We have tried many of the dishes and have never had one we didn’t love. The cocktails are fantastic, too.
We have had Parker as our server several times and he is wonderful! If you don’t know what to order ask the staff for a recommendation- they have never led me astray. We travel an hour just to eat here.

Love Opa! Everytime I go, the food is so fresh! I had the swordfish special and it was a huge portion, midnight snack leftovers for the win. Parker, behind the bar is a dream, and will make sure you have a fantastic experience! 10/10 will recommend and will definitely come back!

Just as the restaurant’s name denotes, this place is enthusiastic in both cuisine and demeanor. At OPA, everything is a celebration. The owner is attentive and active amongst those employed and those who’ve enjoyed. OPA delivers with fantastic food that teeters the lines between comfort and extravagance. The staff sustains a welcoming, yet professional environment that always makes you feel at home. This is truly a wonderful place loaded with wonderful people.

This is the absolutely disgusting restaurant ever. I received a stale Carbonara(possibly cooked 3 days ago) and the roasted chickens are smelling nasty. I would suggest that please avoid this restaurant.

Opa Restaurant – Waterville, ME
139 Main St, Waterville, ME 04901
Tucked into downtown Waterville, Opa Restaurant delivers a surprising and unforgettable Greek dining experience in the heart of Maine. From fresh mezze to hearty entrees and indulgent desserts, every dish brought something exciting to the table.
We started with the Hellenika Caprese, a Greek twist on the Italian classic. With grilled halloumi cheese, grape tomatoes, pesto alla genovese, and a tangy balsamic glaze, it was light, flavorful, and super shareable—10/10. A perfect start.
Next came the Spanakopita (Spinach Pie), and wow—this might’ve been one of the best spanakopitas I’ve ever had. The phyllo was crisp and golden, with just the right amount of feta, mint, dill, and scallions inside. Not too big, not too greasy—10/10.
No visit to a Greek restaurant is complete without Tzatziki, and Opa’s version stood out with its bright lemony kick. It was refreshing and much less oily than other versions I’ve tried, served with pita bread—8/10.
For mains, we went with the Lamb Gyro, which came on fire-roasted pita with pork blade (an interesting twist), fresh veggies, and creamy tzatziki. Paired with Dodoni feta fries and a demi horiatiki salad, it was satisfying, though the fries could’ve been crispier—8/10.
We also tried their Carbonara, made with angel hair pasta, smoked guanciale, mushrooms, and peas in a rich cream sauce. It was indulgent and flavorful, though super rich—definitely a dish you split or savor in small bites—8/10.
To end the night on a sweet note, we had the Baklava, served with bourbon vanilla gelato. The shape was unique, but the flavors were on point—crispy phyllo, warm honey, spiced walnuts. It totally hit the spot—9/10.
⭐️ Final Thoughts:
Vibe: 8/10 – Great for families, date night, or large groups
Food: 9/10 – So many standouts, especially the spanakopita and salad
Affordability: 6/10 – Slightly pricey, but worth it for the quality
Verdict: If you’re craving authentic and flavorful Greek food in Maine, Opa Restaurant is absolutely worth the trip.
