Chena’s Alaskan Grill is a Fairbanks favorite. Open seasonally from mid-May to mid-September. Open for dinner only nightly from 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM. Featuring a terrific a la carte menu including wild caught Alaskan salmon and halibut, steaks, poultry, a full service bar and much much more. Indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating on the deck with amazing views of the Chena River.

Enjoyed the meatloaf and seafood fettuccine, however they were very large serves and could easily be shared between two smaller eaters. Sat out on deck looking out over River, sipping on cocktails.

The food was very delicious. Went many times during the trip and the prices were a bit more but that’s Alaska. The salmon was original and tasty, the seafood pasta was excellent as well. Honestly have no complaints. Service was prompt and our waiter was very informative for any questions we had.

It’s a very nice place. The inside and outside seating is comfortably spaced. The staff was friendly and attentive. I had a short menu, which is fine. It covered steaks and salmon to burgers and fish & chips. My salmon came with fries that tasted like they were deep fried in butter. I loved them.
The views are great, but I chose to eat inside due to bugs. I’d recommend having some repellent or going when there’s a breeze.

Never went here before because I assumed it catered strictly to tourists. Fortunately other local favorites were booked and we had a wonderful time enjoying Hamburgers, beer, robust fruit salads and dessert on the deck along the river. Service was top notch . Afterwards we sat along the river adjacent to the resort enjoying conversations with travelers.

This is one of those places that we knew was a tourist trap, but wanted to see the appeal anyway. We went in a little worried because recent reviews said service was non-existent, but it proved the opposite. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The food was good. I think Alaska prices make it a little pricier than it typically would be. We wanted to try the salmon or halibut, but we are still new to fish and didn’t want to dive head first, so we went with the seafood fettuccine as well as the elk meatloaf. My only complaint with the food was that my mashed potatoes were really cold. The rest of the meat and veggies were hot, but the potatoes even though they still tasted amazing; cold. The fettuccine was really good. There was large chunks of vegetables as well as good sized pieces of salmon, halibut, and shrimp. The house salad was a bit boring for the price. I think that could have used more toppings just because $10 is steep for just lettuce and a little bit of carrots. Otherwise, this was one of those places we have gone to and it was good, but nothing I need to return to. It wasn’t bad, I just wouldn’t have a reason to go back.

Had dinner last night ,the food was fantastic! They use hot plates so food comes out hot and fresh ! We had the seafood chowder which was amazing ! Tried the calamari which is strips and comes with an apricot chili sauce which was so delicious we ordered coconut shrimp with the same sauce . Be sure to ask for the bread with pesto ! Add some wine for a lovely evening

This is mainly a buffet. $45/person. It seems to be American food mixed Indian style food. They offer steak, grilled halibut, salmon, Italian style noodle, salad etc. The fishes and meat were overcooked, dried. I am not a big fan most dishes. They have no American bread but Indian bread only and costs $5 extra. The server was super nice which is a plus. But there is 20%mandatory gratitude regardless of how many people.

Had my birthday dinner here last night. It was a wonderful experience. The cook who I found out was Robert McGee cooked my steak to the perfect rare it was beautiful and so tender it pretty much melted in my mouth. The mashed potatoes were hot which surprised me because most places they wnd up being cold. I felt very special the serving staff (everyone of them) came by my table and wished me a happy birthday. Our server Greg was the best (we have had him last year) he already knew that we would want creamer and sweetener with our coffee and knew to being the pot. Such a great guy love hearing some of his life stories. Told him that he should be wearing a black or a blue shirt instead of the green. Before the end of our meal Mr. Tongue, the chef Darren Biggs and the cook Robert McGee all came out and wished me a happy birthday. I was feeling just a little low this year I normally don’t mind my age I usually embrace it but this year I didn’t want to get that one year older. They all made me feel good to embrace being 47. Thank you to everyone last night for the wonderful memorable birthday I will have.
