I’ve been to their Burwood location several times with my family and have always loved it – the stir-fried rare beef pho is exceptional and remains my go-to order. On this visit to their new CBD location, I decided to try something different and ordered the bun cha vermicelli with grilled pork and fried spring rolls. As expected, the food was delicious.

The service was good, with friendly and helpful staff. The only downside was the seating, which felt quite tight. Depending on where you’re seated, you may be very close to other tables, which can be uncomfortable if nearby diners are loud. Overall, it’s still solid Vietnamese food and well worth a visit.

Reasonable prices and delicious food, with very friendly staff.

I really enjoyed a tasty bowl of pho here. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the ingredients were fresh.

Overall, a great place for a satisfying and comforting meal.

I have heard about Pho Hanoi 1979 in Burwood but didn’t get the chance to try. Now they have opened in the city closer to work I took the opportunity to have lunch there a few of my colleagues.

Ordered the Charcoal grilled pork vermicelli and lemon sugar cane drink. The grilled pork is nicely done, good aroma of grill and tender not dry at all. The portion is reasonable for the price.

The restaurant have good amount of seating and offer the choice to sit inside or outside in a small courtyard at the back.

Service however was not up to speed when we were there. My vermicelli arrived very quickly but my drink got forgotten. The staff is having trouble assigning table for the customer which lead to the restaurant having people standing around with some taken our seat mistaken for theirs.

It was ok for a Pho fix but I hope the service improve the next time I visit.

The food is amazing. I highly recommend Bun cha, which tastes as flavory and authentic as the one back in Vietnam. Also tried Bun bo hue, the flavor was quite light, still good though. The atmosphere is comfortable enough, with a beautiful green wall at the back, I would love to sit there next time. As a Vietnamese, I would say this place is worth trying.

We have visited this Pho restaurant today and it is really amazing! We ordered a traditional Pho which is really yummy!

Also the staff is friendly and you don’t have to wait long time to have the Pho. Highly recommend!

The phở here is clean, light, and very true to the North — not sweet, not too herby, and the broth is very clear. It does contain quite a bit of MSG, so if you’re sensitive to it, definitely let them know because my friend felt dizzy afterwards. For me, it was totally fine, and MSG is safe to consume, but everyone reacts differently.

We also tried the bún chả, which was okay but not particularly special. The bánh mì was solid and surprisingly decent for a CBD spot. One big highlight is that they serve fried dough sticks (quẩy) with the phở — just like in Northern Vietnam, which made it feel super authentic.

Their sugarcane drinks are another must-try. So refreshing and really high quality.
Overall, good prices, clean flavours, and a convenient Haymarket/CBD location. If you want to try Northern-style phở in Sydney, this is one of the best places to start.

Having visited this establishment three times, I particularly enjoyed their Bún chả. It was one of the best I have tried in Sydney and evoked memories of Hanoi. The sugar cane juice was also exceptional, refreshing when mixed with lemon and infused with durian for a more adventurous flavour.

Nice food. I love the bún chả here, the flavor is very authentic. The staff are friendly overall, but once a staff member poked my back while carrying two coconuts through a very narrow corridor. It didn’t hurt, but it felt a bit awkward.

Because of that, I’m giving this place 4 stars, but I would definitely come back.
