Sapo’s Brisket Challenge
Burt Ends was smoky tasty with a perfectly marbled bite and just the right amount of char & spice. Memphis Sweet bbq sauce has sticky sweetness & mild tang yum but if you want unique, distinct sweetness you have to try the Chipotle Mango with its sweet floral flavors mixing with smoke. Generous size corn bread served warm with honey. Classic sides like home made country potato salad & shells&cheese hit the spot fs. Got to try some of the burnt ends soup as an appetizer, great on the rainy day.

My son and I are always on lookout for local barbecue, we found a good one in while in Charleston. Staff was very friendly and provided great service. Son had the pulled pork and I had the brisket… both were very tender and full of smoky flavor. Great selection of sauces are at the table, sides are all great as well.

The food is 5+ stars, especially their smoked fried wings, but being in a college town has its drawbacks…the seating is wrecked but that is part of the experience. Tables, sauce bottles and anything you touch is sticky….I will always go back for the food but do not expect 5 star accommodations.

The food here is delicious and the portions are good for the price. There are a variety of sauces on each table so you’re sure to find something to your liking. The menu is not complicated, yet there are enough different types of dishes to satisfy different tastes. Situated in a former Wendy’s the entrance isn’t exactly wheelchair-friendly, but the employees are very nice so I would imagine if you could get their attention they’d be happy to assist anyone who needed help with the doors. If you love good BBQ this is a great place to visit.

Awesome food! We ordered the smoked meat platter for $35 and had enough for a dinner for two there and lunch the next day. The baked beans were great, too! Decor was nothing to write home about,but our waitress was very friendly and helpful.

This restaurant was a nice surprise.
It looks like every other bbq place but the food was exceptional. I got the combo platter with brisket, sausage, and burnt ends. All were the best ever.
When we got there one server was handling the whole house but she did a good job and the service was great.
We will be back!

We eat here every year for my birthday, and this is the first time I’ve ever been disappointed. We went last night (Friday) and they were out of chicken and green beans at 6:30. There were 4 of us and we all ordered dinners with sides. We got our meats, but only 2 of us got our sides. We asked the waitress about the rest of our food, and she apologized and said they had a new cook. She brought out 1 more side. 5 minutes later another side. It was probably 15 minutes from the time we got our meat until the time we got our last side. The food was good, except my friends ham was dry. Normally the burnt ends are several small chunks of beef, but for some reason last night they were 4 pieces much larger than normal, not really burnt ends at all. Hopefully it was just an off night, but not sure if we’ll go back again.

Decent, fast service and really good food, made to order. Our only qualm was that the two “spicy” barbecues they offered were not very spicy. If you have a sauce called “atomic,” it should reflect the name and be hot as all get out. Not taste like warm ketchup, lol. But still, everything else was great.

Smoky’s BBQ is a nice for sit down or if you want to order and pick it up. I do believe they deliver as well. I enjoyed my Pulled Pork sandwich. I found the sides to be small portions for the price though. Overall good experience. Will return to try some brisket for sure.
