The fried chicken was really fresh and it was delicious. The 2 sides…macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes. I don’t even understand what they did to that food too make it so disgusting. The instant potatoes didn’t have a bit of salt, pepper, butter, milk…. nothing! And they gave me a plastic shot glass full of gravy for the potatoes that had a metallic taste to it. The macaroni and cheese was one big clump that must have been sitting in the styrofoam bowl for quite some time. It was mushy and the flavor was SWEET! Who puts something sweet in macaroni and cheese??? The lady that waited on my was very friendly. That was a positive thing. This is my third visit…. and my last. This place puts a bad name on soul food.

This was honestly one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. The menu is pure false advertising. I ordered catfish, and they brought me tilapia like I wouldn’t notice the difference. Completely unacceptable.
They were out of every basic drink no sodas at all and handed us water in cheap red plastic cups. On top of that, the building was freezing, like they didn’t care if customers were comfortable.The service was horrible.The entire place felt unprofessional, unorganized, and not ready to serve anybody.
Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your money. Lovett’s Soul Food is an embarrassment at this point. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

2 Boxes of chicken with fries to go. First time ordering and eating from here. I was told 30 minutes. I have no problem with that. My problem was when the chicken was not done. I would rather wait longer time than have uncooked food.

Lovett’s food gave me the southern feel in a small town. I mean the Chicken Alfredo and their signature sauce were heaven sent, And it was wrapped in a warm atmosphere. They way the people of the area interacted you would think this place was a community pillar and more well known. Well it needs to be! Will for sure be going again and again!

Lovett is a Soul Food place in Alton, IL. I had looked forward to visiting for so long.
The menu on Facebook look so inviting but yet so disappointing ! Before entering there was either a BAD SPILL or Vomit right at the entrence. That should have been a red flag. We went in and was kindly greeted. It was open seating. But oh boy, this restaurant is so old and out dated. It used to be a tavern that needs lots of love ❤️.
The booths are the original booths and the seats are torn and worn. They tried some repair with grey tape, but it has seen its days. The mop and bucket is in the aisle near the bathrooms and the broom was setting at a table across from us. The carpet was SO OLD AND WORN IT WAS BLACK AND STICKY. ⚫️ !!
I ordered HOT WINGS which tasted like hot sauce and honey. A second order was Buffalo Fish. Presentation was nice, but the fish didn’t cook long enough. It was too soft for fish. In the middle of eating, the owner came and ask us to pay now because she had to leave to pick her grandchild up.
Another person had called in an order and it was ready. Another person came in and claimed the order.
When the right person came to pick-up, she told him that somebody already picked the order up. He asked her if she checked the name, “she said no” her nephew checks names. I felt sorry for the call in customer.
I dont know how the establishment got a grade to stay open. It is HORRIBLE!!!

Very disappointed! I don’t know how a 4pc dark turn into 2 drumstick and 2 BREAST. Never seen pieces of chicken this big in my life! Then they sweated out and got soggy with about 7fries in the box.

The server was attentive. The food was good. We were a party of 3. Protein Fish, rib tips and turkey tips. Sides greens, spaghetti, sweet potatoes,cold slaw,okra,fries and Mac and Cheese.. Everyone uses seasoning different. The turkey tips were not what I expected in 606 the are chopped like tips, but again this is how it’s done there. We will go back again when in the area. The server and the kitchen staff knew there customers. Someone traveled 2 hours to get food from Lovett’s another man told of his dietary restrictions and they adapted. Well Done ✅

Horrible experience overall called in my order and got rushed off of the phone because they had someone else calling so I decided to go in to order my food when I went in. I sat at the front for 30 minutes with no one coming to take my order the floor is super sticky From some type of substance so we left and I called back to place an order and they told me it was gonna be an additional 30 minute wait for the food horrible experience every time I come here not from here so as a tourist would not recommend

Tonight was my first time trying the fried chicken here. It was amazing. I have had snoots here before and they are always great. Some of the best greens I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The guy who took out order was friendly and mentioned that customers are the reason that they are able to stay in business. His appreciation was appreciated. Would recommend to anyone
