I popped into Ruben’s on a whim the Tuesday before Thanksgiving while in the Federal Hill area for “breakfast”…lol!.
Although it’s a small shop it caught my eye with their walk up window and menu.
Ring the bell they slide open the window and you place your order.
It happened to be Taco Tuesday so I ordered two chickens tacos with came to under $5!
Prep time is fairly quick, order was back out the door in about 5 minutes. The portions are great as well as fresh and adorned with parsley and freshly grated white onions.
I also love that their condiment packets are square shaped packets that allow you to see the sour cream, special sauce , and red sauce.
The tacos were sooo fresh and delicious!
So much so that my mom sent me back for an order of her own after she saw mine.

If you’re looking for bold flavor and that perfect neighborhood vibe, this hidden gem is it! Though it’s takeout only, the food more than makes up for it. I got the gas station burrito—don’t let the name fool you. It was incredibly filling, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor in every bite. They don’t skimp on sauce either—everything came with generous portions that made the meal even better. You can tell they care about the details and the taste. Parking is the only downside—parallel, paid street parking only—so plan ahead. But honestly, it’s 100% worth the hassle. This place feels like a true local favorite, and now I know why. Can’t wait to go back or check out other locations.

I’ve never wrote a review before, but this food was so nasty to me I felt like I needed to do my due diligence and tell my story to others . I got two chicken tacos and a steak taco. I added pickled onions and all the other sauces once I reached home. The meats don’t have any flavor, the steak was actually too tough. I also got some rice and beans, both are nasty to me. Then I also got some guac which taste like they used overripped avocados to make. Completely wasted my time and money. Good luck if you go here…

Probably THE late night spot in the Fed Hill area. They are strategically open until 3AM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2AM on Thursdays. Some of their burritos are absolutely legendary and really hit the spot on a night out. The group favorites are the Gas Station burrito, the Founder Burrito, and the Cali Burrito. Definitely a must try if you’re in the area.

Looks better than it tastes. The chicken barley had flavor. The spicy sauce is hot as hell, be careful!! Not bad for the price but I was very disappointed I highly doubt they used seasoning when cooking the chicken.

What they advertised is not what I received. I ordered a steak taco and the meat I was given is not steak, I am unsure what type of meat that is. I tried to call multiple times for a refund and no response.

It was very okay. The birria tacos lacked flavor and they had my order ready in five minutes which makes me think these aren’t freshly made. Based on the texture, they are either using really low quality cheese or not shredding it themselves. The tortillas were a little rubbery. There was a good amount of meat and I was full from one and a half tacos plus some chips.
The chips and cheese were okay. The cheese is better than Chipotle but not as good as Qdoba. It is gritty, not very thick, and pretty good flavor. The chips are the same as you could get anywhere else.
The hot sauce is not very spicy. It is a good flavor, a little bitter, but if you’re sensitive to spice, you might be okay with it. It tasted slightly hotter than a jalapeño, but not as hot as a habanero.
The cashier was friendly, my food was hot, done early, everything I asked for was in the bag, and they gave me plasticware and napkins without being asked. So from the service side they’re good. But it was really weird that the windows were mostly covered and I had to ring a bell at the front door so the cashier could hand me my food from a window. And no, it didn’t give the good sketchy vibes like a place is about to be really good. It gave regular to bad sketchy vibes.

Ruben’s is my go to spot for deliciousness! I love their tacos, burritos drinks and French fries. Flavorful, freshly prepared. The food is always good, but that HOT SAUCE?! It takes it to a completely different level. I will stop at Ruben’s, if for nothing else, the hot sauce. I got my boyfriend hooked on it which ended up being a mistake because now I have to buy two bottles every time. We’re putting it on EVERYTHING. Staff is always pleasant and the owner is super cool and chill. You wouldn’t know it was him unless you’ve been around long enough and know about the restaurant. Real great guy and great brand to support.
