Decided to try this place last night for the first time since I had read so many reviews saying the drunken ribeye is a must try and it’s so good. I called a couple hours ahead and got a reservation for 2 for 8:15pm. Arrived a few minutes early, waited a couple minutes to be greeted but were sat right away. The restaurant was a bit crowded but not a big deal, very loud in there also. Waitress was very upbeat and nice. Answered our questions and told us about the twice baked potatoes not listed on the specials menu. My husband and I both ordered the same thing. We both got the Lobster Bisque, and the drunken ribeye with the twice baked potatoes with bacon. We waited a reasonable amount of time to receive all our food. The bisque was very think but tasted ok, my husband thought it was a bit salty but didn’t seem to be salty to me. Then we received our salad. It was extremely basic and lacking but tasted fine. I got mine with house dressing and liked it but the salad could’ve been a bit better. Then we received our entrees. I was so excited to try the melt in your mouth amazing steak. Unfortunately mine and my husbands experience was anything but what others seemed to be. The steak tasted a like any other steak that you would put on the grill and char a bit with a slight taste of sweetness. The most disappointing part was this “ribeye” was not like any ribeye I’ve ever had. A ribeye should cut like butter and melt in your mouth. Mine and my husbands were chewy and didn’t deliver. I can say the steak was cooked to the correct temperature so that was a plus. The sides were ok. The twice baked potato was salty and overwhelmed with scallions. The meal left a lot to be desired especially for our $140 dinner for 2. I honestly wouldn’t return.

This was our first time here. We made reservations for 6 pm. We waited less than five minutes and were seated. They had a restaurant week special going so we ordered that. We started with crab stuffed mushrooms. They were yummy. We ordered the 14 oz ribeye with peppercorn sauce. One was cooked medium the other medium well. Was definitely a bit surprised to see them come out completely black and charred. Didn’t mind though it was cooked internally how we wanted. The steaks themselves were SO salty , and I mean salty. I love salt however it was too over powering . The cheese cake was nice. They had a lot of people waiting most of the time we were there. Our food was brought out in a timely matter. Which was
appreciated. It took us awhile to be able to get the bill and pay though. Overall I’m on the fence about this place. Not sure if I recommend it or not. The pastas I saw coming out to other dinners looked amazing. Thinking I may have to stop in some other time and give one of the pastas a try and update my review after.

Tucked away on a side street in the shadow of a 20 foot prison wall is a gem of a steakhouse. Warm atmosphere, intimate dining and excellent service. You will quickly feel at home here. Great job John.

Had not been here in 20 years but last Friday our besties suggested it. We had a great meal. Server was great and so was the food. Atmosphere is meaningless, a little dark and noisy but that didn’t interfere with a great meal. My filet was a bit undercooked but I did not care because it was huge and delicious. The stuffed fried green tomatoes app was very good. We all ordered a different dessert and shared them. The chocolate sundae cake was a big hit and so was the cheesecake. We’ll be back for sure

Food was sub par at best. I ordered the Tenderloin Tips Asiago and it was awful. The tenderloin tips were also overcooked. Not sure how you can ruin the cream sauce in this dish but they did. Salad that comes with the entree was also nothing impressive. Definitely not worth the $30.95 I paid for the dish. I told the server it was terrible and I did not want a box to take the dish with me and she said nothing. She gave me a blank look and just took the plates away. What a disappointment. First time there and will not return.

Did not disappoint! I had french onion soup, rib eye with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans and took a lemon raspberry cheesecake to go. Soup was delicious and the entree was one of the best I have had in quite a while. My steak was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. Dessert was the perfect ending. It was like taking a step back in time walking in the doors. All staff we encountered were kind, Jenna and Connor were top notch. If I ever make my way back to Auburn, Balloons will definitely be on my list!

Always a good time here, can’t attest to the seafood as I’m not big on it, but the steaks are always good as are the pasta dishes! Always well taken care of here.
