My wife and I decided to try a different restaurant than our regulars for “date night” We look for restaurant recommendations on some local Facebook groups. This one came up as highly recommended. They are new as of Thanksgiving week of 2025. We figured we would give-it-a-shot. We were extremely impressed. Service was fantastic. Food was just as great. Price was reasonable. We definitely will be doing more date nights here. Noise level was lower than most restaurants probably due to the acoustic ceiling tiles and seating arrangements, so our conversations were easy to hold. We also like the fact they are open on a Monday and also take reservations which i would recommend if you decide to go the regular busy- days and/or hours. Again… we were impressed. Not ypur typical location for such great food and service.

Very impressed. Walked in at 7p and was seated quickly w no reservations. Interesting cocktail and wine menu, wide variety of dinner options. We had the brussel sprouts app which was perfectly cooked, could have used a little salt but we enjoyed.
Smash burger was insanely good, huge portions, took half home.
A little loud but that’s fine. I will go again!

We have been dying to try this restaurant ever since it opened, and it did not disappoint. Wow, the service was top notch, and the food was delicious and very affordable. We sat at the bar, where Jaime took care of us all night. She was very knowledgeable about the drink menu and the food menu. Jaime was so personable, which gave the feel of a casual, low key, local bar. The drinks I ordered were the Butterfly Effect and Division Bell. The presentation was amazing and the taste was even better. The pimento cheese appetizer was out of this world! It was warm and flavorful. The beef brisket plate with Brussels and grits was top notch. Everything came out and fresh. My son has a peanut allergy. The staff was incredibly careful about noting that on our order and making sure all of the items he ordered were safe. We will be back very soon.

Very impressed with this restaurant considering how new it is. The menu consist of a wide range of different meals and sandwiches that are sure to satisfy anybody who walks through the door. My turkey BLT was amazing and HUGE. The service was top notch and all of the employees were super friendly. Very reasonable prices as well. THIS is the way to open a new business! I’m local and plan on becoming a regular.

Sip & Cinder doesn’t announce itself with velvet ropes or culinary pretension. It just sits there in Waxhaw, North Carolina, quietly confident—like a place that knows exactly what it’s doing and doesn’t need to explain itself.

We walked in without a plan, without a reservation, and somehow—miraculously—were handed seats. That alone already put the night on the right trajectory. No waiting. No theatrics. Just a polite nod, a smile, and the subtle promise that you’re about to be taken care of.

The cocktails came first, because of course they did. Balanced, thoughtful, and unapologetically tasty. The kind of drinks that don’t try to reinvent alcohol, but instead remind you why people started drinking in the first place. One moody and spirit-forward, the other bright and playful—both doing their jobs beautifully while staying out of the way of the food.

Then there was the cherry-smoked burrata. And let’s pause here, because this is the moment where the kitchen flexes without showing off. The smoke arrives gently—an aromatic whisper, not a campfire punch to the face. Cherry wood, sweet and restrained, curling around impossibly soft burrata like it was always meant to be there. Creamy, smoky, delicate. It shouldn’t work this well, but it absolutely does. This is the kind of appetizer that makes the table go quiet for a second, which is the highest compliment food can earn.

The braised short rib, though—that’s the closer. Rich, tender, collapsing under the lightest suggestion of a fork. Deeply savory, glossy with intent. This isn’t just comfort food; it’s reckoning food. The kind of dish that makes you reconsider your life choices and draft a mental list of final meals. If I’m staring down the clock on death row, this short rib is making the shortlist without debate.

Throughout it all, the staff stayed sharp, courteous, and present without hovering. They knew when to step in and when to disappear—another quiet skill that separates good restaurants from great ones.

Sip & Cinder delivered something rare: an intimate, unforced experience that felt personal without trying to be precious. No gimmicks. No ego. Just thoughtful food, solid drinks, and a room that makes you want to linger.

I left full, a little buzzed, and already planning the return trip. And honestly? That’s exactly how it should be.

Finally a local restaurant with amazing food! Everything was fantastic. It’s the kind of food when you taste it you have to close your eyes to just savor it. We had the short ribs, shrimp and grits, the fries and the brussel sprouts. Each item was equally delicious. My husband and I couldn’t rave enough. I also love when the chef comes out to chat with the customers. Service was outstanding. Already planning our next visit. So excited to have this gem locally.

I always leave honest reviews according to my opinion. Let’s get into it. Was recommended to this hidden gem from a friend. Walked in and was greeted immediately, very warm welcome. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Our server was top notch. Asked if it was our 1st time, gave us recommendations, and knew everything about the menu. I ordered the brisket plate with fried brussel sprouts and sweet potato fries. The fiancé also got the brisket plate but with mac and cheese and green beans. Ok hear me out. The brisket was just a touch dry but, they gave us a “flight” of all of the sauces (without us even asking). I could have stuck a straw in the Alabama white sauce. Phenomenal. The fiancé liked their vinegar based original. The sides are where it was at folks. I am still craving those brussels lol I tried the mac and the green beans. Start to finish, it was amazing. The managers came and talked to us and even opened the door when we left. You guys. Go. Support this local business. We will absolutely be back. Next on my list to try is the shrimp and grits. Thanks for a wonderful experience! Hope you guys stick around!

The Blackoned Shrimp Risotto was awesome! The Salmon was delicious, and the Succatash was very good! My son said the Cubano was very good! Staff needs to be trained to be more attentive overall, but will be back to update review!

Great new restaurant! Everything we ordered was delicious and the portion sizes were pretty large. The brisket was tender and flavorful. The smoked chicken was smoky and tasted great. Even the side dishes (beans and brussel sprouts) were so good! Will definitely return!

The tomato bisque was good. I didn’t like the grilled cheese “croutons” because they got soggy and just wasn’t my favorite, personally. I think something crisper like parmesan crisps or crackers on the side to add myself would have been better. Otherwise it was fine. The deviled eggs were smaller than I’d expect at a restaurant and I didn’t like the mix that they were topped with. II sampled my husband’s sweet fries and they were very good! No complaints about those! He had a Flip something burger with a ton of cheese, which of course I stole and that was really good too.
The seating was slightly closer to other tables in my opinion. We were seated near the door behind the hosts but it felt a little cramped with people directly seated to our right. But the chair was comfortable and atmosphere was nice. Employees were friendly and professional. We look forward to visiting again soon.
