This was by far the worst restaurant experience of my life.

From the moment I walked in, the staff’s attitude was already unfriendly. I ordered one soup and one drink, but they charged me for two drinks. Only after I repeated myself several times did the woman finally return the extra charge.

Then I patiently waited for my food, but they brought me the wrong dish. When I asked about it, the female server (a middle-aged Korean lady) became extremely rude and spoke to me in a very nasty tone. What shocked me even more was that she suddenly turned away and started talking loudly to another table of Chinese customers who were eating at that moment, completely interrupting their meal. It felt very disrespectful and unprofessional.

I was traveling alone — my first day in this city after a five-hour train ride, just hoping to enjoy a simple meal before visiting one of the best universities here. Instead, this experience made me feel so humiliated and upset that I had to call the police to help me resolve the issue.

After the police checked and confirmed my order, I finally got the soup I had originally paid for. I understand officers are very busy, but I had no other choice.

It’s heartbreaking that such an unpleasant thing happened at the very start of my trip.
I truly hope no one else has to go through such an awful experience. Please avoid this restaurant — especially if you value respect and basic service.

Special thanks to the Rhode Island police officers — they were incredibly kind, professional, and helped me solve the problem with great patience.

LOVE thier honey garlic chicken!!!! It’s cooked in olive oil, not canola oil that was made for lubricating machinery.

Absolutely delicious! The BBQ chicken here was so good — perfectly cooked, flavorful, and super satisfying. The service was great the waiter was nice and attentive. The atmosphere was chill and cozy, and I actually loved having the TV on in the background — it added a fun, relaxed vibe.
Only small thing: there was a bit of yelling coming from the back at one point, which made me go “whoa, what’s going on back there?” But honestly, it didn’t ruin the experience at all. Everything else was amazing. This place is worth it.

Will now be the spot on Thayer that I will go to satisfy all my Korean food cravings. The cheese ramen added with beef is so satisfying it cured my homesickness. Service is also very deliberate, the staff tries his best to serve everyone as quickly and efficiently as possible. Will have to return to try the fried chicken.

I came here with my girlfriend about a week ago and to be honest it was just not that good. I think for the prices you would expect the food to be a little better, but you can tell that nothing is really made with good ingredients. the only good thing was the chicken which was really really tasty, so if you come here just get the chicken. we also got some other things including rice cakes which came in a super small portion for 20$.

I arrived at 10:30 to order an 8-piece fried chicken for about $20, this time for a friend. With only one group ahead of me, I expected a quick turnaround. Instead, I waited until 10:55 before a staff member finally asked if I’d even placed an order—despite having paid 25 minutes earlier. No apology was offered, and I didn’t receive my food until 11:00. Sadly, this isn’t the first time: on a previous visit, I waited an hour for my order. Overall, the service here is disappointingly slow and unprofessional.

WORST ATTITUDE BY STAFF. Ordered one middle sized half and half of “original” and “secret sauce” hwv received chicken with very spicy sauce (which is wrong) and “secret sauce”. Sauce that was made wrong was too spicy that we cant eat. So i told the Asian lady that the order was wrong. She was angry to us and took our chicken. After chicken came back she took 3 wings out bcuz by her word “we had eaten them” we had just a bite and realized order was wrong and called her. How can we know the order if we dont have a bite of the food? She was the one who should be sorry but she was yelling to my friends and was very impolite, at the end taking our wings. I WILL NEVER VISIT HERE AGAIN. DO NOT YELL TO UR COSTUMER.

When Soban reopened with the bbq chicken franchise we were all excited. When I am in NYC I would stop by that location there. I have to say this Providence location in terms of crispy chicken, flavors, and wing size is better than the one from NYC. The owner really knows how to double fry and season the wings.

Fair warning there is a wait because it takes a minimum of 25 mins to prepare for a double fry and season. I would recommend to place it online if you are in a rush because it is usually just the owner who is running the front taking orders and cooking. Expect to wait 30- 45mins.

But it is well worth the wait. Also this is a mom and pop establishment. So please be kind.
