This spot blew away my expectations. I always worry about trying new Ethiopian places because they can make hit or miss, but I am glad to have ordered from Ghion.
First off the vegan meat options are WONDERFUL. I love the traditional plant-based dishes that come with platters, the greens, lentils, cabbage. Delicious. But I’ve always wanted to try vegan versions of Ethiopian chicken, beef and fish dishes. This is the first time I have been able to do that and it did not disappoint .
Everything is so flavorful, fresh and delicious . I have absolutely no complaints. Definitely try the platter that comes with ALL the vegan options!
The service was great and the atmosphere soooooo good.
I ordered vegan platter and vegan beef tips. Lentil samosas.
I came after 2 on a Sunday and they have fresh roasted coffee.
Lawd I’ve never had such good coffee in my life!
The food was outstanding, the staff was so accommodating, the portions were large and the prices were excellent.
I even took a picture of the bathroom, because it was perfectly clean and great, which is a sign of a clean restaurant.
Lots of parking, but careful if you are turning left into the drive.
Will be back soon, and next time to enjoy the freshly roasted coffee!
Immediately the energy of the space was welcoming. My entire dining experience was comfortable from beginning to end. Information was shared with us about the process of adding vegan cuisine to the menu, and how close to home it is for the restaurant. This shined through every dish .
We had the Vegan Sambusas ( not pictured because by the time we thought about it they were gone lol) and the Vegan Ghion Special ( pictured ). The vegan protein texture and flavors were done very well. Everything was a 10/10 and very satisfying.
Parking at the restaurant is a little bit weird; they have four lined spaces and some room for parallel parking. It’s plenty of space for their eight or so tables. The tables are interesting, African baskets filled with coffee and spices. There are also a few seats at a counter.
We ordered spiced tea and their special. We’re not really into heavily spiced and hot food, so we were able to swap the awaze with the less spicy version. Everything was delicious, excellently flavored, moist, and they gave us more bread when we asked for it.
Note that it is served traditionally, so you do not receive cutlery. You use the bread to pick up your food. They have two bathrooms that have soap and paper towels.
Next time we’re in the area, we will definitely visit again.
