At our Phenix City, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

We used the drive thru and waited in line for 1/2 hour at least. I tried using the mobile app for over an hour to order my meal but it wouldn’t work
I got some sort of tea instead of the soda I ordered. They seemed short staffed so I feel for the workers bc they were doing the best they could but this was a disappointment. The food doesn’t have the quality it used to too as well.

First time visiting this location and I went through the drive thru. I ordered the supreme sampler with fries and slaw. The fish, chicken , and shrimp were all good. Food was hot and came in good portion. Only thing I didn’t like was the cole slaw. Would eat here again minus the slaw

I decided to visit this Captain D’s location after church today and was surprised by how empty it was, especially for a Sunday. When I pulled up to the drive-thru menu, the prices were shocking — a family meal that used to cost around $23 is now over $40. I ended up spending $50, and when the food was handed to me, the boxes felt so light I wondered if there was even enough in them. Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing — overly greasy, lacking seasoning, and definitely not worth the price. It honestly feels like this place is in its last days, which is really sad to see.

The food was extremely fresh and delicious as always! Staff is friendly but overworked at this very popular Phenix City location. Use caution entering and exiting both the busy restaurant and parking lot because it sits off a frontage road of Highway 280 and is the only location in town (consider adding an additional location in North PC please) Look for coupons in the money mailers around the 1st of the month to grab great deals.

This location is a hit or miss and the last couple times it has been an absolute MISS! Got a two piece fish meal when I asked for a chicken & fish meal. The entire meal is awful. Wasted $14.36 because I just can’t eat it, the fish is old they literally warmed it up. Fries are soggy. I’m so disappointed with this.

The people are rude. The service is HORRIBLE in my opinion. The drive thru is constantly backed up because they are so slow (ride past on 280 bypass and see for yourself). I literally waited at the intercom for almost 7 minutes before the girl came back on to take my order (with an attitude). Pulled around, paid and was told to “pull up” to the parking lot and wait on my food to “cut down on drive thru time.” I ended up having to go INSIDE the restaurant to get my food after waiting in my car for 25 mins. I would not recommend anyone eating here. Also, the food is overpriced and honestly nothing special.

If you value good service and fresh food do not eat here. The young fella who took our order in the afternoon of 12/1/24 was sullen and unfriendly and acted like he would rather not take our order. He was not very helpful when we were trying to order our usual of a two piece country/southern style fish and we ended up ordering the wrong thing – We’ve never done that before and we have visited many Capt D’s all over the place. We waited over 40 mins for our food while watching people come and go then we only got it when the young lady who was taking good care of the dining room went up to check on it for us. I suspect the young fella never put our order in at all. After all that wait the coleslaw was obviously rancid as it was foamy and sour from fermentation. Disgusting – I will say the shrimp and french fries I got were descent. I told the young lady in the dining room about the rotten coleslaw and she was not surprised as she said that a lot of people had complained of the same thing yet they were still serving it – ridiculous – Anyway – we still love a good Capt D’s – we just will never return to this one! We’ve given this location enough chances and this is the first time we’ve complained.

I paid $22 for cold food, the tea tasted like water. The past FIVE times I’ve been they have said they don’t have the sweet and sour sauce. One went as far as to tell me they no longer made it. Don’t waste your money.
