These are my favorites to get and recommend getting
1)empanadas (of course )
2) the German chocolate cake (but don’t get if you don’t like coconut)
3) the mushroom francese
God bless
We started with the Maplewood Smoked Beet Tartare and the Cauliflower Bites, both of which were delicious and unique. The Beet Tartare was a smoky, fresh surprise—a must-try, even for non-vegans! We also loved the Lumpia and the Pesto Penne Pasta, which were perfectly executed comfort food. Every single dish we tried was truly good.
A huge shout-out to our server, who was super friendly and attentive, making the whole meal enjoyable. Plus, the service was incredibly efficient; our dishes arrived quickly, which is always appreciated!
Gaia & Loki is definitely going on my list of favorites. Highly recommend!
Started with maple wood smoked beets tartare with avocado and the grilled cheese with tomato soup. The cheese was made with chickpea and paired so well with the creamy soup. Every bite had so much depth and warmth.
Even though we didn’t have a reservation, the staff welcomed us in without hesitation. The person who helped us was genuinely kind and made the experience feel very personal. The owner even came by to check on us and you could tell they really care about the guests and the food they serve.
One unexpected highlight was the restroom. Sounds random, but they’ve clearly put a lot of love into the design and details of the entire space. It’s rare that I ever compliment a restaurant restroom but this one stood out.
Not sure if it’s family-run but the vibe and quality make it feel like it is. Will absolutely be going back to try the rest of the menu. Thank you Gaia and Loki for such a memorable experience.
The ambiance was nice and casual, perfect for a relaxed brunch. The plating was also really pretty they add thoughtful touches like fresh fruit and edible flowers.
A solid place to try if you’re looking for a fully vegan meal! ️
I called ahead for a party of ten over a weekend brunch and they were very accommodating. With it raining, I was worried they’d be booked up but they were able to make space and welcome us into their cute, eclectic restaurant.
The menu was vast and filled with American favorites including sandwiches, texmex, waffles, pancakes, and more. They also had a few specialty items including a Fried Oyster Mushroom and Waffles combo, which I ultimately ended up ordering. The mushroom was fried to golden perfection and the waffle was one of the best vegan ones I’ve ever had. It was so much food on one plate that I barely finished it myself.
I also loved how the owner came by to check in on us and even offered us small bowls of honeydew that they had just gotten. This was so appreciated while we were perusing the menu since we were so hungry walking into the shop.
My friends who are not vegan were also raving about the food, with one ending up ordering dessert for himself… and he never does such a thing while dining out! That’s when I knew we all gave them our seal of approval.
I couldn’t have been happier with this choice of eating here for brunch and would come back again the next time I’m in Jersey City.
Upon arrival, I was asked about reservations. I didn’t have any, but we were seated quickly. Unfortunately, the seating arrangement was disappointing. we were placed extremely close to another couple who not only listened in on our conversation but even leaned over to look at our phones. It was uncomfortable and invasive. I really wish the restaurant offered more intimate seating to allow guests some privacy.
On a positive note, the menu was impressive! There were plenty of burger options, and I appreciated that they offered selections without soy and without Beyond Meat — that was a huge plus. The empanadas were absolutely delicious (though a bit pricey), definitely a highlight of the meal.
However, there was an issue with the burger — it kept falling apart, which made it difficult to eat. Even if the flavor was good, the construction of the burger should hold up. When it was clear that I couldn’t enjoy it, I would have appreciated some acknowledgment or adjustment to the bill. Guests shouldn’t have to pay to be test subjects for menu items that aren’t quite ready.
Overall, if you’re visiting for the empanadas, this is the spot — they’re worth the trip. But I hope the restaurant works on seating comfort and consistency with their main dishes.
The food was incredibly tasty. The empanadas were a great start, but the mushroom alfredo was the real standout—rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Whether you’re looking for a nice sit-down meal or a relaxed dinner, this spot hits the mark. Definitely worth a visit!
