Wandering around the city looking for a late night dessert, so found this place! Don’t mind the ‘hopefully’ under construction Lowes wallpaper exterior.
We enjoyed a Cake Batter scoop in a waffle cone (quite a bit of ice cream for one scoop but also it was like $6 or $7 so….) and a coconut milkshake (also pricy at like $8 for the large and it was just them blending soft serve vanilla, milk, and coconut flakes). Still, tasted decent.
Service was not the best, with them watching us stare at the screen of flavors for several minutes and then when we went to order – saying they only have the flavors on the paper on the window. So instead of 15 listed flavors ON the digital menu, they only had 6. Why not tell us sooner? So yeah, that is why a low service rating.
Low atmosphere as not really anywhere to go, no indoor at all (order at window) and zero outdoor seating.

We Went after a Notre Dame game it was packed and only one employee working so it took awhile but it was well worth it. Amazing and so yummy.

We had the most amazing experience here! My friend and I showed up when it was closed without realizing it, and instead of turning us away, the owners kindly opened up just so we could enjoy some ice cream. That kind of kindness and customer care is rare and meant so much to us. On top of that, the ice cream was absolutely delicious—fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. We left with both happy hearts and happy taste buds. Thank you for going above and beyond—we’ll definitely be back soon!

Shakes were good but there was one person taking orders at both the burger place and the ice cream side, and she was preparing all the ice cream orders. We watched maybe 20 people leave when no one came to take their orders after a long wait. Saturday night after an ND game, you would expect more staff
Super sketchy neighborhood. Don’t go at night.

Extremely overpriced, no prices posted. I hardly ever leave poor reviews, but $30 for 4 kids scoops in waffle cones is not worth it. The ice cream itself was adequate. The explanation given was that waffle cones were the same price for kid size, 1, 2 or 3 scoops of the same flavor. Multiple flavors cost extra.

Great nachos! Great milkshakes! Only place open super late in South Bend. I eat here all the time. I think they got good quality steak. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t yet!

Like a perfect oasis in a dessert desert, Fat Boys is a glorious refuge for the ice cream lover who gets a late night craving. The Ashby’s flavors are excellent, the scoops are big, the prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly about giving tastes, and the atmosphere makes me feel like I’m back home in the big city. This is my favorite place in South Bend.

First, this is a real review. I just can’t figure out how to change my name on this. Anyway, my wife and my parents were in town for a football game and craving some ice cream. We decided to go to Fat Boys Creamery. Great decision! Smooth, delicious ice cream. High quality waffle cone. Staff was very friendly. The restaurant was also quite clean. Well-priced, too. I would highly recommend this stop to anyone in South Bend looking for ice cream.

$26 after tip for two medium shakes. The shakes came out super thin and weren’t super flavorful. Absolutely not even close to worth the price point.
