Cooter Stew is a must try if in the St. Marks area.
Excellent French fries, make the trip alone worth it!
Great burgers with a good sear and crust with excellent varieties.
The loaded potato salad is a creamy baked potato with all the fixings. Get this potato salad!
Hotdogs, slaw dogs and a grilled cheese is available for the picky eaters.
It’s not fast food. Seating is largely outside.

Ok. This place really surprised me! I came here 2x for lunch and the BLT wrap was yummy!!! The tortilla, lettuce, and tomatoes were all super fresh. And the fries…perfection! Keep in mind this is a small restaurant but is so worth trying!!! Small rustic restaurant, serves the best food in St Marks and in about 15 Miles around. Burgers are amazing with caramelice onions even better. Sourkraut is made in house it makes my mouth melt when I think about it.
Since is the best restaurant in town it can get busy at lunch; so patience to get your meal served is required and worth it.

We had just visited River side 3 weeks ago and decided to come back and try Cooter Stew. I agree the burgers were great, we tried a chicken wrap and a shrimp wrap and both were great. The French fries were hot and crispy. We enjoyed our meal before heading out to fish.

Food and service are great! The building is an old gas station. But it’s not about the building. It’s about the food… and we love it! There’s a lot of outdoor seating. Only 5 tables inside, and a large bar.

I am sorry that I did not try this place sooner I always went to the other spot near by and Cooter stew cafe beats them hands down for quality and taste.They have a small menu but that means they can focus on making each meal really tasty. The atmosphere is that of a small fishing town bar/cafe real down home. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was prepared with care and pride and man was it good.

UPDATE. We came to St. Mark’s for a getaway weekend. Came here last night and back again tonight. First night we had the Buffalo shrimp wrap and the Caesar chicken wrap. Tonight we had the loggerhead burger and the pulled chicken sandwich. I’m here to tell you the food is absolutely amazing! Service is on par with the food as well, friendly local staff. Hand ground and patted beef, local fish and shrimp, and great local brews on tap. This place is a must visit! Even if you live in Tallahassee, worth the drive. A must visit.
UPDATE. Hanna (our very sweet waitress) this one is for you. We came back again tonight, third night in a row on Hanna’s recommendation. She advised us to get the loaded potato salad. We order and tried it. BEST POTATO SALAD EVER. NO Mayo, it’s sour cream based. This beats my mother’s hands down. Thanks Hanna! See you guys next time.
