What a cool place! The atmosphere was lively, fun, and welcoming. It was so cool getting into the bar and the ambiance was nice. There’s not a lot of space but can accommodate to small groups. Plenty of parking around the area and other businesses to explore. The bar is located in the basement and it’s pretty cool getting there, especially if you don’t know it exists.

We got a few of the drinks to try and everything was made well, delicious, and flavorful. They were also willing to create a drink for me because I didn’t know what I wanted. The drinks were unique and definitely came with a kick.

Such a cool place with awesome staff. Staff was so nice, accommodating, and helpful! They accommodated our big group, took care of us, and provided recommendations and alternatives.

I would come back for the experience and drinks. I would recommend for a small group, a fun night out, or to experience something pretty unique.

If you haven’t been to PO Box 21 in Westerville, Ohio, you’re seriously missing out. We booked the speakeasy through their website for a 5 PM reservation for four, and the experience was amazing. It’s located beneath High Bank Distillery, and while you do have to ask the hostess where it is (so it’s not as hidden as I expected), the magic starts right away. A host is waiting, presses a button to open the door, and suddenly you’re stepping into this stunning, luxurious hidden bar tucked inside an old bank. Such a cool, elevated experience from start to finish.

I strongly suggest the First Class Clarity. It is made with high bank vodka, clarified lemon, ginger, vanilla, and bergamot. So delicious and refreshing. I’m looking forward to coming back for more drinks #columbus #speakeasy #columbusohio #pobox21

Best cocktail bar in Westerville. It’s the only bar I’ve walked into and I’ve felt like I’m in New York—or at a minimum, I wouldn’t know that I’m not in Ohio.
The speakeasy effect only augments the experience. The bartenders are professional and knowledgeable. If you need a recommendation for your drink selection, don’t hesitate to ask. I recommend their riffs if you’re into the classic version. If you’re unsure, just ask your bartender

Super cool experience and vibe! The drinks were all unique and delicious. I did take off one star because there were no nut allergy warnings listed on the menu. The drink I ordered — Paint the Town Red — was served with a cashew, which I’m unfortunately allergic to. Had I known that, I would not have chosen it! It was also surprising that it included a mini charcuterie board since that wasn’t mentioned in the description. Lack of allergy information can be dangerous, so this was definitely disappointing. However, I still really enjoyed the atmosphere and creativity here, and I will definitely be back in the future! I just hope they consider adding clear allergy labels moving forward.

It’s really hard the thread the needle on these venues because there is a layer of theatrics required to tell the story of a speakeasy, but it has to be done with an incredibly high degree of effortlessness. That’s where PO Box 21 lands- not too much, but enough to keep you leaning forward and curious. Staff is attentive, drinks are on point, and the vibe pulls in good people. You don’t have to be a history buff to understand the significance of the location. You can feel the intentionality. Westerville has a winner.

I absolutely loved my trip to P.O. Box 21. I went yesterday for a date with a good friend, we enjoyed 2 cocktails each, and the Charcuterie small plate. Our server Margaret was phenomenal helping with recommendations since it was our first time visiting – highly recommend the Chocolate Negroni and the Plum Wine and Cider cocktail (they bottle it in house!). You can enter through the restaurant upstairs and go through a back stairwell or the dedicated entrance in the back which opens to the parking lot. A greeter behind a post office desk will open a hidden door for you where you enter a truly beautiful atmosphere. It’s dark and moody in the best way with history decorating the walls, you positively sink into the bench seats and club chairs making for a comfortable and relaxing experience. This is definitely a must-see for those who enjoy a relaxing drink among friends with a unique vibe.

Such an incredible place! We planned ahead and had a relatively short wait (15 minutes) and it was well worth it. The drinks are high-end and were fabulous. Atmosphere is very cool, down to the small details. If you don’t plan ahead and just show up you’re likely to wait awhile…it’s a speakeasy! It’s supposed to be intimate and small.

We went to P. O. Box XXI because it sounded like fun. We found our way to the basement of High Bank Distillery (which was renovated from Westerville’s old post office). It really made you feel like you were in a small post office branch. I put in my name and phone number and shortly after I received a text saying they received my request for a package pick up at PO Box 21. It would be ready in about 15 minutes. The post office clerk (host) gave us menus to look at before we went in. They escort parties back 1 or 2 at a time through a hidden door, then show you to a table. The lighting was very dim and the atmosphere was quite intimate. The cocktail list was very creative and they change it seasonally. They have a few snack type items on the menu to nibble on. It is a very cool place and worth a visit! My son-in-law ordered a tiki drink—Jungle Killer. He drank it, but did not like it. My daughter and I both tried it and thought it tasted the way band-aids would taste if you ate them—very medicinal. My husband ordered a drink not on the menu—a classic daiquiri— and it was very good! I had 21 Spritz and my daughter had Cordial Invitation—which we both enjoyed. The Cordial Invitation was rather sweet. We shared Checks & Balances, which is a “dressed up” Chex Mix. I thought the flavors in the Chex mix were too subtle. I thought they could add more pronounced flavors to give it more appeal. The other thing that was kind of off-putting was the smell in the basement—it smelled like sewage. I’m sure it couldn’t be helped, and we have had a lot of rain lately. But I would still go back.

Such a neat experience. The atmosphere is fabulous. Makes me wonder if something like this was around during prohibition.

Highly recommend this for a drink or two.
