Social Profile:

It was 1983 in Joplin, Missouri, when Belva Crooks first opened Mighty Melt. And what defined this new eating establishment was the signature bread recipe that Belva created to make her unique sandwiches that kept people coming back for more. The business expanded in 1984 with the opening of another location in Sedalia, Missouri by Ellie Wesson. This new franchise location expanded the reach of the business and was soon followed by several other locations. It’s continued to grow and thrive in Sedalia, creating four decades of memories. Mighty Melt is known not just for it’s flagship bread and sandwiches, but also for tasty spuds, soups and salads. We’re committed to creating an experience that you’ll remember!

The staff here was incredibly friendly and welcoming — you can tell they care about their customers. The small diner-style atmosphere was neat and had that nostalgic local charm. The place was full during our visit, which says a lot about how popular it is with the community. Unfortunately, the food just wasn’t quite our family’s preference. The bread seemed like it might be baked onsite, which is great, but it was a bit dry for our taste. Still, it’s easy to see why this spot has so many loyal customers!

Pretty busy place almost all the tables were taken thats how you know a place is good! Lot’s of different sandwiches available from chicken to pastrami, healthy chips available. Soup and spuds of course and don’t forget the Cookies and Cobbler. The meal deals are the way to go love that it’s an option: Sandwich, chips and a drink. The bread is amazing you can taste the freshness! Will definitely be back to try a different sandwich next time.

The sandwiches are great! The people are too. This is my favorite place to eat when I go to Sedalia for work. Wish they had fruit punch as a drink option tho.

So the People of Sedalia voted for me to visit Mighty Melt! After eating there, I totally understand why. The bread here is worth visiting on it’s own.

We tried a few of their recommendations and I’m glad we did. There is such a sense of pride here and community. The low rumbles of conversations from the packed lobby, the soft laughter from the staff because they’re all in great spirits.

This is the kind of place you quickly become a regular at, or definitely take out of town guests to experience.

The potato’s are cooked perfect, and the right size. Soft, savory, packed with delicious toppings. The sandwiches, are the exact balance of everything listed on your order. The Bread will make you think pilows from God, but dense also, and tender, but chewy too? It’s such a masterpiece of everything.

The Staff will steal the show if you let them. Eager to brag about the 40 years in business and to share their favorite items which is helpful. Also, a Potato Soup that will have you lying to your Mom when you tell her “hers is the best”

Mighty Melt was a big win, with small city vibes. An easy choice for a stellar meal with a really decent price tag. Enjoy!.

My husband and I tried it today. The sandwiches were so good! The bread was fresh and the meat tasted fresh. The price was excellent. He got the mini tuna sandwich and I got the original? Medium size, chips and drinks for$23! Price was excellent! Food was better! We will be back!

I called to create an order. The lady I spoke to was super boastful. Whenever I asked about what type of bread they had, she started lecturing me that “they’ve been in business 40-some years, so the bread must be good.” Ok, that’s great, but I just wanted to know what kind of bread they use. I didn’t need a speech. Plus, they’ve admitted in the other reviews that their “freshly made” bread and cookies are sometimes dry….then it’s not freshly made. McDonald’s has been around for 85 years, and that’s where my business is going from now on.

Edit – reply to the reply from owner: some people have lies and an excuse for their every move. McDonald’s was once a small business, too. And your bread isn’t special, you can find very similar recipes online.

I love this place so much! I used to go to the one in Warrensburg all the time in college and now I drive out from Lees Summit a couple times a year to get it. The bread they use is that good! I went today and it was just as good as always! 🙂 Plus everyone working is always so nice!

Amazing! We drove out of our way, traveling from one state to another, to stop at this sandwich shop at noon. It isn’t your usual sub or sandwich shop at all. The delicious bread is difficult to describe and its filling, delectable. I had the mushrooms omitted from mine but my husband said they were very good on his sandwich. In fact, the to-go portion of the sandwich stayed intact and was equally as tasty for supper that night. The chili was great, service friendly, & facility very clean. The homemade peach crumble was wonderful. I advise you drive past the sub shops and check THIS out!
