Garo opened Garo’s Deli in 1989 with little more than a desire to share his love of healthy and authentic Armenian foods to everyone in the downtown area. Since 1989, Garo and his family have been serving up amazing dishes and sandwiches in downtown Los Angeles within the Jewelry District. Garo built a strong following for over three decades by always offering superior quality consistently – all with a smile and a true display of thankfulness. Garo worked tirelessly to carry on the tradition of serving the best Armenian and Mediterranean foods in all of Los Angeles. Garo and his family worked together to add flavors, options, a market, fresh cut deli and serving up freshly baked bread every day. Come Hungry, Leave Happy!

Nice little shop in St. Vincent Court. It’s an international shop with little of everything from biscuits, to olives, to wines, to cold cuts, to sandwiches, to sweet treats, to coffee & drinks. Folks go there for the delis, especially sandwiches- and so am I today for the pastrami sandwich. The breads is a thin baguette or I call it pita like, a thin bread that toasted with the meats and then veggies then rolled it up. Perfectly great looking roll. The meats used to be more than now, then again so does the costs. The taste is great, tasty and perfectly balanced from meats to veggies to bread, yum! Service is great and friendly. There is a seating area in the back corner of the shop, unfortunately it looks abit sad and boring BUT they do have outside seating, either on the sidewalk or on under the tent on the street. Most preferred outside then inside. Overall another great snack at a great deli in a great relax, chill, and Europe likes in the busty DTLA in the jewelry district.

Garo’s Deli can be found in the heart of DTLA’s jewelry district. Garo opened his deli in 1989 to share his love of Armenian foods with everyone in DTLA. Since then, this wonderful family business has been continuing to serve amazing dishes and deli sandwiches. Their bread is fresh baked, their deli meat is freshly cut, and most of their ingredients are locally sourced! There is so much to love about this amazing spot! ❤️

What I Ordered: Roasted Beef & Chicken Sub

About the Food: I absolutely love the variety they have on their menu. They have everything from hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, soups, salad, coffee, and more. I opted to get their hot sandwiches! For starters, I love how fresh their ingredients are! The bread was absolutely perfect! Crispy on the outside but still fluffy and warm on the inside. The sandwiches are stuffed with fresh vegetables. The pickle inside adds such a nice flavor contrast to the rest of the sandwich. The roast beef was nice, juicy, and flavorful. The chicken had a more subtle flavor but you could really taste the quality of the chicken they use and they did not skimp on the meat. These sandwiches will definitely fill you up! I am super happy we got to try this amazing hidden gem within the jewelry district. If you’re making a trip to DTLA, I highly recommend stopping by this shop to try out their delicious food!

A friend of mine brought me here. I live so close and regret not coming here sooner. Their daily special with Shish Kebab was excellent. Can’t wait to bring more friends for a quick lunch. They have seating with Cafe tables hidden in the back.

Stop searching around for a decent, delicious and authentic sandwich!!! Garo’s Deli is definitely the right place to go. Took me a while to find a parking spot in DTLA, not surprised, and finally find this Armenian deli shop located in a small alley in St. Vincent Court. I am super excited!!

Walking in the shop, I am truly amazed by how clean and nicely organized of its set-up. There are different kinds of fresh bread, choices of cheese, deli meat and sides that you can build your own sandwiches OR you can go straight from the prepared sandwiches on the menu. All staffs are very friendly and helpful, I am given enough time to ask questions and explore all the goodies.

I ordered two hot sandwiches: Chicken Club and Pastrami. Their sandwiches are made to order with fresh ingredients such as tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, provolone cheese and other sandwich dressings. Hot sandwiches are toasted in an oven for around 30-45 seconds with cheese. Before I took the first bite, the cross section view of these sandwiches have already won my heart and every bite is full of different textures and layers of flavors!! The only thing to mention will be the chicken, it’s a little dry to my standard and I hope it could be more moist and tender next time.

As mentioned earlier, the parking can be a challenge if you are not from local. You can also park in nearby lot with minimal fee and walk here for pick-up. There are about 5-6 indoor seating and 6-7 outdoor seating for small gatherings. Garo’s Deli is not only a sandwich shop but also a small market where you can buy varieties of sauces and cheese which is very convenient.

This amazing shop is firstly opened in late 2020 during the pandemic. Thank you Garo for serving great quality food and excellent customer service.

Coming from Queens NY, something that you really miss is the bodegas/delis. At almost every block you can get good sandwiches for a decent price. California lacks many things and fresh delis is one of them. But now there’s Garos Deli in the heart of downtown LA. They are serving up some of the best Armenian style sandwiches. The pastrami was definitely my favorite sandwich of them all. The mortadella sandwich was also delectable and tasted very fresh. The bread is made in house every day. If you love a good sandwich then come on by and give this great deli a try.
