First time visit and loved it. We had the four course which secured a reservation at a window table for two. The space is cozy with a bistro vibe, but we were told there is downstairs seating and a seasonal patio. We noticed that incoming regulars got hugs from servers ! We enjoyed a bottle of white wine from Portugal that was a great compliment to the food.
The mushroom escabeche held in a single endive leaf was powerful in its perfect delicate flavor and texture combination. The beets presented as a jewel complimented with a creamy rich feta, pine nuts and raisins. The asparagus plate was splashed with a sharp vinegar., maybe a bit too sharp for the wine. The cod was seared crisp, so fresh, and succulent. I’ve tried many versions of potatoes brava and this version was fried cubes of potato with a creamy tomato sauce, different from what you might find in Spain where the approach is more “rustic”. The gnocchi was magic. Deserts ditto.
Our server was cheerful, brilliant, attentive, what can I say?
So lucky we are the recipients of people who really care about food.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Wonderful experience- all four courses were superb and service was fantastic! Our first dining experience in Portsmouth and although we had other positive experiences during our visit, this one stood out above the rest. Would definitely recommend and we hope to return!

I was able to get a same day reservation for a lovely Saturday in October. I sat on the patio under the heat lamps, and was quite comfortable. The menu is a $59 price fixed. You order everything at the same time and your server spaces it out for you.

The service was excellent, as was the food. I started with some almonds and olives. Super delicious and authentic. Then I had the potato leek soup, which was missing a touch of salt in my opinion. I ordered patatas bravas which reminded me of the ones I get in Spain. So good. My entree was the paella, which was absolutely delicious. I can’t remember the name of my drink, but it was basically a creamy, spicy, tart drink, absolutely perfect.

I had one of the best meals I have ever had here. I will definitely be going back.

Had a great experience — the food and service were excellent. The menu changes frequently, which keeps things exciting. We’ll definitely be back soon! Just a heads-up: reservations are a must.

The food was terrible. Super small portions which would be cool and fancy IF the food was good. But it’s not food was honestly gross.

Plus we got charged 10 bucks for legit 5 potato cubes with like sauce on it.

Staff was especially rude. Atmosphere was loud and unfriendly.

I felt as though the staff was over pushing us to get drinks, by placing extra drink coasters and asking three separate times if we would like to order drinks.

Terrible experience. Don’t go here.

Perfect slow paced dining! The ambience was great, service was excellent, and there was not a single miss on the 80% of the entire seasonal menu we tried. The dishes took a bit longer to prepare but were all delicious and thoughtful even to scrutinizing connoisseurs. The food is modernistic and lighter compared to traditional Spanish/Mediterranean food, not the greatest fit for someone needing something very heavy and hearty with *a lot* of calories.

Cava is the perfect place for your date night, anniversary or even just a Wednesday night out of the house. The food is inspired, the wine list expansive and the atmosphere is amazing. A must try destination in Portsmouth!

Only have been there twice but each time was amazing! I recommend doing the menu 4 course for $48 PER PERSON (they’ve updated the price to be $59 Per Person). The plates seem small at first but most of the time you might not be able to make it to dessert. The downstairs bar is amazing if you’re going on a date! Everyone is very nice and knowledgeable about the menu and also the drink selections.

So exceptional! I had a giftcard here and went for my birthday, is a cozy little restaurant and bar in Portsmouth. The owner and servers were friendly, helpful, fast, made great suggestions, and repeatedly asked if everything was tasting okay. We did the $60 per person 4 course meal for the Spring Menu. You have 3 options to choose from for each course. I had the beet salad, cauliflower, gnocchi, and churros. Everything was so fresh, flavorful and clearly cooked with love. Was insanely good the drinks were really fun and creative too. Would absolutely go back for their summer menu and recommend to anyone in the area. Definitely make a reservation!

Such an incredible date night! We got a seat outside in this picturesque alley, and had a long, leisurely dinner, with amazing food and perfectly paced courses. The tasting menu had several options to pick from (3 courses plus dessert), and even though you do the picking, what arrives is always unexpected and exciting!

My absolute favorite was the artichoke, which was baked and came with this amazing sauce, very unlike the artichokes I’ve had before! The desserts were incredible, and we even learned that they make their own dulce de leche on site, as it’s somehow milder and more balanced that the sweet explosion we’re used to.

The service was great, we never felt abandoned, and all the courses came out well paced, with plenty of time to talk in between. You definitely need a reservation in advance here, and you have to put down a credit card, but it’s worth it!
