I’ve been excited about this place ever since I first heard about them at the Asian Night Market last year, and they completely lived up to the hype.
The experience was top-tier from start to finish. Ethan was behind the bar making our rolls and did an amazing job explaining each one as it was placed in front of us. We tried almost everything on the menu and honestly didn’t have a single bad bite. The fish was extremely fresh, the rolls were perfectly balanced, and the pricing felt very fair for the quality.
What really stood out was how intentional everything felt. The team took the time to explain what you were eating, which made the whole experience feel personal and well thought out — especially impressive for opening day.
Amazing food, great energy, and a spot I’ll definitely be coming back to a lot. If you’re even thinking about going, do it.

We have been searching for fresh sushi since we moved to Memphis. Not only was the fish fresh with unique flavors to each roll but the ambience was amazing and the staff (from the hostess, to the waiter to the chef) were all so nice and helpful! Everything we had was delicious! We had the small bites, the hamachi and sake crudos and the three hand roll set and finished off with the Wagyu roll. The Wagyu was definitely high quality melt in your mouth!

The food is high quality, and the price reflects that. The service makes you feel like you’re VIP. It’s not a place to go if you’re looking for fast and cheap food and large portions. You’re paying for an experience, and a good one at that. The waitstaff, the management, the chefs were top notch and attentive and accommodating.

Many will tell you Memphis doesn’t have great sushi, but that isn’t true anymore, thanks to Maru. I was never a fan on hand rolls, but I’m now a convert!
While hand rolls, crudo, and sashimi are their only offerings, it makes for a quick dining experience that is perfect for lunch or dinner.
The fish is amazingly fresh, everything is imported from Japan (including the chopsticks!), and the rice is PERFECT. Ideal for a quick meal, I’ve been twice in the 3 weeks they’ve been open and loved it every time. My favorite is the hamachi, but the salmon and tuna were also amazing. Thank you Maru for bringing great sushi to Memphis!

As a person who was stationed in Japan, this place was a whole vibe. I loved having the chef prep our food in front of us and answer questions. I split a couple of hand rolls with my niece, and chef kept track of who ate what.

Hands down my new favorite date night spot! We went tonight and had such an incredible experience. Cory took care of us and we had food within 5 minutes of sitting at the bar. Everything came out so quickly and the food was to die for. The chefs explained each hand roll so thoroughly and we really got a chance to connect with the meal. They took time to explain every detail down to the type of Nori they use. We did hamachi, toro, sake, scallop, and spicy tuna hand rolls and then we added some sashimi and it was the perfect meal. Anne was so sweet and checked on us throughout our meal. It was a really special experience and I can’t wait to come back!
