We are from Dallas and loved the vibe here. Brad and Stephanie are the owners and are sooooo nice and personable. The staff were extremely nice and respectful too. Probably the best service we’ve ever had. The food was great and my kids requested seconds. My family and I will definitely eat here again when we come back to Mt. Vernon.

Our first time dining tonight, after visiting another great steakhouse (Eddie V’s) for New Years, I can say the Chop Shop is excellent in every way! The wine selection is great, the Filet Mingon and chicken fried filet were cooked to perfection, and service was courteous and attentive by Ashley. Chop Shop is impressive!

Very impressed by this East Texas Diamond in the Rough. It was our first time trying it tonight and my wife and I were very happy with our entire experience. I however do not recommend the Tempura Asparagus, not that it may not be someone else’s favorite, but it’s not going to be one of mine, it just needed something more. As for the entrees, drinks, and dessert…Perfection! Steaks cooked spot on, better wine list than most other restaurants I have visited, and the Crème Brûlée was great. Our server was excellent, and we were even visited by one of the owners which was really professional on their behalf. It shows that they are involved and care about their business, and their patrons. That is something you don’t get anymore and it was really nice. Thank you for a wonderful experience! We will for sure be back if we ever manage to get hungry again!!

food, drinks and service were top notch. it was quite loud inside and would have interfered with having a real conversation. fortunately there were tables open on the patio and the hostess was very accommodating when we asked to switch to an outside table even though our reservation was for inside.

Absolutely loved coming to this gem. The owner Stephanie and her husband Brad are wonderful and friendly people. Brynn is an amazing bartender. So attentive and sweet. Now, onto the food, you must get the bacon wrapped quail. The entire menu is delicious as always and never disappoints. We enjoyed the decor and all of the history that comes with this experience.

My husband and I enjoyed a rare night out and had such a wonderful experience! We started with drinks and the rolls with cinnamon butter—absolutely amazing! For our main course, we both had filets with a wedge salad and baked potatoes. The steaks were cooked to perfection, the baked potatoes were delightful, and the wedge salad was crisp and fresh. After our meal, we were given a tour and learned about the history of the building, which added such a special touch to the evening. No need to travel to Dallas for a great steak—this place has it all! We’ll definitely be back!

The food, however, was not nearly up To snuff. One of us had a petite fillet it was severely undercooked and wasn’t even hot enough to melt the butter on top. One of us had chicken. The entire plate was cold. I had the chicken salad and the chicken was severely overcooked.
