Nice hot food and friendly service. You can see into the kitchen area where vegetables are cut and fried in mounds. Order the large kimchi, because it’s great!! The chicken wings are flavorful,.but did not taste fresh, nor korean fried. All of the staff were helpful and nice. Clean dining room and toilets.

The food was so good. We went late on Saturday night and it was easy to get a seat. Started with the pork fried dumplings then I had the dulsot bibimbap with spicy pork and my partner had the bbq chicken plate. The spicy pork was amazing and the experience of the bibimbap was so good but the bbq chicken plate was the winner by a small margin. Would also definitely get the dumplings again.

Great food, service, and atmosphere all rolled into a cozy, almost hole-in-the-all restaurant in the heart of the downtown mall. The portions are deceptively large and the service is quick and friendly. Perfect place for a date night or a pre/post-show meal.

Finally got to try this place and I was not disappointed! Absolutely delicious. Generous portions and fair prices. Our server Kat was literally the sweetest. We will be back!

Do yourself a favor and get the tofu gang jeong appetizer, one of the best things I’ve ever tried at a Korean restaurant. Very busy on Friday nights, but luckily we had made a reservation. This place came highly recommended to us. The service was a little slow and it seemed like the restaurant was understaffed, but we were still smiling from our sassy server. Udon Bokkeum had good noodle textures, but the flavor was a little bit dull for my taste.
Overall, good experience, a little pricey, but would still recommend

Not my taste but very good in its own way. All freshly baked, cooked, prepared. Eating with sticks is not that easy but very stylish. The restaurant is also in top design. Watch the chefs in the open kitchen preparing your meal. See the flames grill pork, beef or seafood. Fresh vegetables and fruits are prepared right in front of the seating rows.
Dessert is very high class.

Our favorite Korean restaurant on either coast. The owners are the Chefs and they put their love in every dish. The staff are friendly and fantastic. Consistently one of our favorite Charlottesville restaurants that we never hesitate to recommend.

We love Maru for their selection of great Korean vegetarian food. Our favorites are Maru Fried Rice with Tofu, Fried Vegetable Dumplings, Dolsot Bibimbap with Tofu, & the Banchan. The Dolsot Bibimbap came out in a sizzling hot bowl! Great outdoor seating on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall.

I booked a reservation a couple weeks in advance AND requested a specific table for my boyfriends birthday. They replied back to my reservation and said it was all set. Upon getting there, people were in that booth. They told me the person who took my reservation forgot to put the table I wanted. So they shoved us in the way back of the restaraunt next to the bathrooms and a trashcan. Barely checked on us. Took forever for us to be able to pay the bill. Nothing was comped, I expected maybe they’d take off the appetizers as an apology. Nope. Did nothing. Didn’t say happy birthday to my boyfriend. It was really disappointing. I don’t think I’d come back based off how they handled the whole thing. Food was great tho.
