The Hornblower family started A&J’s Subs on the East Side of Olean in 1974.Several years later they opened a second location on the West End of Olean. In 1996,they consolidated both locations into the current location at 1103 West State St in Olean. Mike and Christina Jaeger now own and operate A&J’s and are carrying on the same great tradition of delicious food that is made to order and worth the wait! AJ’s has been my go to for take out food for quite some time. However, in the last few months the quality has went down hill tremendously. The last time I ordered the food arrived here 40 mins after it said it was out for delivery. The whole order was cold by the time it reached us. This time, I should have known better to order it at all, but was hoping it was a fluke. The food was all overcooked. The SW wraps aren’t the same at all and taste horrible. The grilled chicken sub I ordered had very little chicken in it. It was mainly lettuce and black olives. Has this restaurant changed hands? Something is way off about all their food and we always tip well. What gives Aj’s?

Best steak & sausage sub you’ll ever sink your teeth into period, tad expensive but certainly worth it… A lg. sub is 16inches and plenty enough to be two meals as they do not skimp on thee ingredients, in fact you get more meat and thicker slices veggies than any other subshops I have been to… dec 11th 2020 update, AJ’S is not what it used to be!!! I cannot figure out how to add a new photo on here but my sub was completely soggy and the onion/peppers uncooked as well as the steak was very pink! For $35 for a sub and order of chicken tenders I expected to get the same quality I was used to and that is not at all what I got today… I will try them again to see if it was only a fluke and one bad cook or cooks bad day but it happens again then I will order elsewhere….29Aug25 Update, Do not order the chic-parm as it is half of that literally just two patties with cheese and the bland pizza sauce on it- NO PASTA served with it which is what makes the dish! Also who puts mustard on an Italian panini? Lessons all learned moving forward I will only order the steak/sausage sub that I absolutely love and rave about as its thee only thing they offer that is even worth writing about….

Asked for extra bacon. It still barely had any bacon. If I could post a picture I would. Needless to say when you ask for a BLT there are a lot of other ingredients other than BLT. But they still charge for it all when you ask without and for the “extra bacon”. So little bacon I wouldn’t even call it a normal serving amount. I paid $12 for a bunch of lettuce, tomato, and about 8 half slices of bacon on a 8in sub? Like I said… if i could post a picture I would. I couldn’t even taste the bacon
