I recently had a chance to dine at the Naval Station Galley and overall it was a good experience. Everyone I interacted with was helpful and patient as this was the first time I had been there and I was not familiar with a lot of the protocols.
The food was good not great. Well to be fair some of it was great and some was just okay, so it averages out to good. You definitely can’t beat the value though and I wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again.
The atmosphere was a little odd. The place felt very old, which is not necessarily a bad thing but it could definitely use a refresh. However the only thing I didn’t understand was why it was so dark. The lighting in the seating area was very dim, I don’t know if this is an aesthetic choice or just a power saving measure, but it just gave the place a weird vibe.
Overall I was happy with everything though and would eat here again given the chance.

I heard the hours are expanding to at least have grab and go available but I’m not sure the times. The dinner time of 1500-1630 is really inconvenient but maybe they are short staffed. Came here for lunch, for a reservist on AT orders with no messing available lunch was $7, not sure what the other prices are. Staff was nice. You go through the buffet line after showing your CAC at the front, then you pay at the end after they scan your CAC.

I have eaten in galleys all over the world. This might be least pleasant galley experience. The entire building inside and out smells like sewage. You might have better results eating on the ship.

Service was rude, 50% of their food labels were wrong then they gave you attitude if you asked what it was. The register attendant was on the cell phone and had me waiting for a few minutes before helping me.

Decent food, decent staff, decent galley. A little confusing to figure out the first couple of times. Breakfast is always disappointing because the staff makes the food an hour or so before they open so it’s never warm or fresh, but the other meals are solid. There seem to be roaches (saw a small one one time when I was getting my food), but no one has gotten sick as far as I’m aware so I’m not too worried. Overall nothing too special, but not that bad either.
