We stopped here on a whim and am so glad we did. The food was amazing and you get so much for the money. It was cozy and perfect. Tina was our server and she was terrific too!

While visiting family in the area I was wanting breakfast at dinner time so gave this place a try- and I’ll definitely be back! I was very impressed with the wide variety of the menu which includes breakfast all day. My breakfast (I think it was called Country Hash) was perfectly prepared, even with all my “special requests” and my cousins Reuben sandwich and onion rings looked and smelled amazing ! The portions were large enough that we both needed to go boxes. Our server Zach was pleasant and very accommodating. It wasn’t very busy and I noticed the other server Saraah was chatting with customers who were likley “regulars” , she also stopped by our table to refill coffee and see if we needed anything. Im looking forward to returning to try out some of the lunch and dinner options.

As I travel about, I like going to local eateries. So, tried this place with my sisters. We all ordered different entries to get a feel for all the options.

Unfortunately, I’d say ALL the food was meh. Generous portions, but not particularly tasty or particularly cooked well. I say all the food was meh.

I had the liver and onions. The liver was very thin, which resulted in it being tough. And over cooked.

But we had a caring server and nice portions.

Decided to give this place a try on one of our trips up to the area. Pulled up to an old Burger King, just painted the sign but it still lights up under paint, lol. The inside was obviously remodeled decently to not look like a fast food joint. Server came and got our drink order and a different person brought the drinks. Then a different person took our order, so maybe a shift change. But nonetheless they were all nice. We got the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they were ok. A bit too much ranch was given though and it was very watery.
I ordered a turkey club with fries, my husband ordered a breakfast special, my two boys ordered cheeseburgers with fries and my daughter ordered French toast off the kids menu. It was all pretty good, but really basic. No real flavor stood out, nothing other than basic diner food. It was good and there weren’t any problems, just didn’t feel specialty. The prices were good though and the place was clean. Just beware of most restaurants up here, most sandwiches and burgers come with potato chips, not fries and if you sub fries, it’s usually an additional $2-3 dollars. Not a bad place, but it was kind of far from our place and we likely won’t be back.

Food was good, but atmosphere is lacking. Not much you can do with a renovated Burger King though. Sure wish they would have turned the AC down. On a 90+ degree day, and a car w/o ac would have been nice to cool off in the restaurant.

For a place that serves food, it is dirty!! There was food and garbage on the floor. The bathrooms are filthy, overflowing garbage can that was so filthy you didn’t want to touch it (see picture)no toilet paper, and dusty and dirty. I would not recommend this place to anybody! Instead of the waitresses standing around, they should have been cleaning the place up.

We were on our way home from the UP. (That’s upper peninsula for you non Michiganders)
We were sick of fast food and wanted to sit down for a meal.
Pulled up ol Google maps to find a place on the way home.
Found Great Lakes, well, my wife did.
To be honest, I wasn’t super thrilled by the exterior. It appears to be a refurbished Burger King.
They’ve done a fine job in the remodel (just a few paint drops on the rock on the wall).
And the food was decent.
I got the fish and chips, and the fish was good. Fries were OK.
My wife got an omelet.
Couple of small service errors, but that doesn’t bother me a ton.
She was friendly and that means more to me than getting something wrong.
You could do a lot worse if you are looking for a pretty quick meal.

Food was just okay. I did wonder at one point if my wet burrito was made with 2 frozen burritos from the local grocer. Service seemed slow. We only saw our server to take our order, deliver our food, and get me one refill on my coke.

We had a large group from Wednesday until Monday staying in the area. We had breakfast, lunch and some dinners around town. Some were very large to accommodate such a large group (60). Unfortunately we found Great Lakes family restaurant on our last night. They had the best food hands down!!!!! If your traveling on 127 take the M-55 exit head east less than a quarter mile off the freeway. Large
Parking in rear.
