Great experience. Awesome food and awesome service. Definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone seeking a relaxed fine dining setting with great tasting food and alcohol options. Staff is beyond attentive, making sure you’re always taken care of. Nice atmosphere. Will be back for sure!

First of all, the restaurant is under going renovations so the atmosphere is quite poor. Secondly, the music coming from the bar was so loud that even though we requested the table in the back near the kitchen, it was still too loud. What happened to the gentle guitar entertainment that they had before covid shut it down?
The snow crab legs were all over cooked with brown shells and shrunken meat if there was any meat at all. Some legs were so soft that you could bend and twist them and they wouldn’t crack at all. Every batch was this way, and we were there for two hours. The meat was stuck in the crab pinchers and had to be dug out. Only three leg pieces came out whole. And we mainly came for the crab!
The service was good, with staff changing out plates, filling up drinks etc without being asked. They were courteous and friendly.

Went for breakfast… great view and friendly staff. Ordered the Grand Loco Moco and it did not disappoint – so good! Highly recommend.

We went there for Thanksgiving. The hostest was nice. They sat us in the bar because we were a table of 5, even though there were plenty of tables open. We were fine with that. But because of that, we had to ask for additional items normally served while in the dining area. The meat was two thumbs down, the turkey was chewy, the roast was chewy, the snow crab legs were over boiled and tasted like metal and were very rubbery. Everything was over cooked. The gravy was so salty, and I love salt. The food line was no set up. very well, the trays with lids kept falling down on guests and not one time did staff come to help. The old spoons used to grab food out were not replaced when replacing emptied containers. The burners were out of the food so you were scooping room temp food that by time you started eating was cold. The poke station had bowls piled up while putting in request. I undestand being understaffed, but when there are spills, things dropping, people’s dresses getting gravy on them, and staff seeing and not helping, that’s a bit too much for the prices asking for a meal. The pig roast they had, only had 2 lights up by the neck leaving the rest of the body to get cold and it sat out the whole evening. He said he did notice the set up…. ok you’re the manger… why not correct it before you charge extra for holiday buffet????? And we served ourselves and were only asked if we needed anything once and we still tipped. Our total for cold meal was $465.97 for 5 people. I called and talked with manager who offered to only, “let the Executive Chief know, and we’ll do better next time.” Seems to be service COLD food is a red flag to not come back no?? Looked through reviews recent reviews have the same complaint, managers how are you making changes??????

Thanksgiving Buffet- Very good food and the location is beautiful with great views of Coconut Island and Hilo . A fantastic array of entree options all of which were delicious. A few tweaks would be five stars all across! There was a small assortment of deserts all of which were tasty and the ice cream bar was good. A few tweaks offered with Aloha as we did overall very much enjoy ourselves: The service was very friendly and with a smile, but a just a tad unprofessional. My wine was a short pour, noticed others glasses seemed better. The buffet setup was for serving from one side and this led to having to wait quite a while in line. Some guests cut the line. The buffet service was at one end of the large dining room leading to long walks carrying the plates if one was seated past the middle of the dining room and very far if seated in the bar area . A setup in the middle with serving on two sides might have worked better for thr guests. The plates were small for buffet, more like a luncheon size, definitely recommend larger dinner plates. Haven’t been for a visit since the new ownership and overall liked it very much, and though the cost was high the quality and choices were worth it; the decor is tasteful and pleasing and we plan to return.

The food was good overall, but it could have felt more festive and special. Adding more holiday-themed touches—such as a cinnamon-glazed ham or creatively named seasonal drinks—would have enhanced the experience. Incorporating more Hawaiian flavors and variety would also have been appreciated, especially since many guests were visiting from outside the area and were eager to try local cuisine. The event could of had hints of a luau atmosphere, but it felt somewhat muted. With a few thoughtful touches, the dining experience could have felt truly memorable. .

We had a reservation at 630pm for two. The only table they had for us was right in front where everyone walks by to be seated and the food was on the other side of the room. First impression of the buffet line. It was very minimal on the salad bar just leafy greens no usual like iceberg or romaine lettuce and only two dressings to choose from (weak). The macaroni salad had no taste it was just like mayo and macaroni (disgusting). Poke was dark and not fresh looking. Very little variety on the salad bar. What a disgrace. We then moved over to the cold crab legs and shrimp cocktail. It was peel your own shrimp, (come on). Then it was the hot food. Here we go…mash potatoes was alright but no gravy really who serves mash potatoes without gravy. It like serving a drink without the cup hello. Then they had this soup looking concoction but no bowls. Had lots of liquid but I don’t want to put all the liquid on my plate. Damn it people. Then had this seafood scampi but it was just spaghetti noodles and shrimp in Alfredo sauce. Gross. Next was grilled chicken in teriyaki sauce it was OK. Then the salmon was alright. The crab legs could of been bigger and boiled in salted water. Butter was good. The prime rib slice I had was absolutely rare and I didn’t even touch it. The bread and butter was good. The desert bar was a dump only had a few items not much to chose from and for the price I would never go there again. Ponds was way better even seaside. Lmao

It was a great first experience! The staff was really helpful and attentive as soon as we walked in. The buffet food was amazing and well laid out. It was easy to find what we wanted to eat. The service for drinks and cleaning away finished dishes was great as well. Definitely will plan a return visit.

Let me start by saying I don’t like buffets. This lived up to my expectations. The food wasn’t good. The prime rib was as pale as porkloin. The instant mashed potatoes and I’m not kidding were better than most of the dishes. I couldn’t identify the catch of the day and they weren’t going to label it. They had plenty of snow crab but the shells were so soft you couldn’t split them. The server/workers were friendly and always stopping by to clear plates. But shame on you kitchen.

Came here for dinner on a Friday night. Service was great and the setting was really nice. The food, however, came out subpar. The bone marrow was a very small portion for the price and overcooked, so it was mostly rendered out when it was served. It’s supposed to be spreadable and it was not. The asparagus and bean sprout salad from the salad bar was oversalted to the point that it was inedible. The Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese had maybe three discernible tiny pieces of lobster. The butterfish was too sweet, the $45 Prime Rib was served under medium-rare, and the $50 Ribeye was served way over rare. We sent it back since it wasn’t cooked properly, but by the time it came out the entrees had already been shared and finished, and it wasn’t seasoned at all. The “greens” were lacking next to the steaks. They were wilted and cooked down, whereas we would’ve expected a hearty serving of freshly blanched and roasted heads of broccoli, or something equivalent. The mashed potatoes, to us, tasted like they were reconstituted… The best thing about the dinner was the whiskey–it’s pretty hard to mess that up. While we applaud the effort of bringing a fine dining establishment in Hilo, way more attentiveness needs to be given if you’re serving $50 steaks. Pics in order: Prime Rib, Ribeye, Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese, Butterfish
