The curry was sooo well seasoned and this is one of the CRISPIEST potato croquette I’ve had. Was ridiculously delicious yall! It came with a side of miso soup which was really nice.
My girl said the sammy chicken could have had more seasoning but was still very delicious! Will be coming back again!
Inside it was actually fairly quiet. Several people were inside dining alone and it was not an overstimulating restaurant in terms of noise. It was a nice atmosphere compared to outside.
We had the tempura bento and the food was good. Tempura and fried chicken in the tempura bento were nice and crispy. Comfortable booth seating. The employees had good service and were personable too.
They also had a restroom if you were a paying customer and it was clean (I particularly dislike disgusting restrooms and it lowers my opinion of a place lol). So I had to compliment the cleanliness too.
Today, I stopped by just for dessert, and their new Matcha Tiramisu totally blew me away – the flavor is on another level!
Highly recommend giving it a try!
This place had no wait on a Saturday night so we just decided to try it. The food was decent but not good enough to compete with the other Japanese restaurants in Little Tokyo.
Sayuri Sake ($16): This was the only sweet sake listed so we got that one. It was pretty good and easy to drink. It’s not as sweet as the flavored soju but it’s sweet enough that you don’t really taste the alcohol.
Dragon Roll ($17), Alaska Roll ($15), Salmon Roll ($8.50): Their sushi was meh and pretty bland. Would not get sushi here again.
Shrimp Shumai ($8): This was actually really good and my favorite item of the whole meal.
Premium Black Pork Loin ($19): This was my second favorite item. The pork loin pieces were thick and good, not too dry. However, I think the portion size is aa bit small for the price.
Tenzaru ($15): The cold soba noodle was okay. The mix tempura was good.
The inside of the restaurant looks average, many of the restaurants in Little Tokyo are very historied and may have older, deteriorating furniture. ToT is getting there; their furniture is outdated but it’s still in good condition. One downside about their place was that it was really loud. It felt like I could hear all the other groups in the room. Their service was normal and the staff was polite but they forgot our appetizer and had to make it later.
The food is mid, like something I could make at home on a weekday. I ordered the curry udon and it tasted fine. We also had the takoyaki and the spicy tuna donburi, again they were just fine. I’m sure they’re food is very stable, but I wouldn’t want to go again. The taste of their dishes didn’t have any draw. The main draw of their food seemed to be their portion sizes. You can see in the pictures that they give a big bowl full of food, but at the same time they still skimp out on the meat. 5 slices of tuna for a big bowl of rice and salad. 2 pieces of chicken for a big bowl of udon. That’s unpleasant.
