-Atmosphere- 1 star. Though the restaurant has two sides to it, we opted for a table right next to the bar (literally 2 feet away) to be able to take advantage of the happy hour pricing. Cocktails can be pricey at Pkwy Bistro. We made sure the hostess was aware of this. After ordering cocktails and the drinks were delivered, we were quickly scolded by a dark haired middle aged bartender/waitress that we were not entitled to happy hour pricing as we were not in the bar area that she motioned and outlined with her finger. We told her this was where we were sat by the hostess as the bar seating was all full. No apology, no understanding by this lady, no compromise, no nothing since we were not in her magical bar space. Additionally, she apparently had no control of her bar stool customers as one gentleman was extremely loud, boisterous and obviously drunk and overbearing to the point of being heard by everyone from the front door all the way to the bar. No attempt to reign him in to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone else that was dining.
-Service- 1 star. Waitress Renee seemed to be stressed and having a difficult time attending to us. While our order was taken shortly after seating, it took an hour and a half to get our meals. The place was not that busy at 5:15. At 6:15 I asked what was taking so long and Renee said our food should be coming up shortly. We ordered a 2nd cocktail ( 2 drinks total) and I suggested maybe she could comp that round since food was taking so long. She rolled her eyes and chuckled. Once food arrived 3 of the 4 plates were correct and one was wrong. She a tried to talk me into taking the one she got wrong. Really?
We had heard good things about Pkwy Bistro but we were very disappointed in everything but the actual food. Waitresses appear to be unorganized and disinterested in checking on their customers. Do yourself a favor and dine somewhere that values their customers and the hard earned money they spend. Inflation is taking its toll on everyone and dining out gets more costly every day. If you are there for happy hour, make sure you are aware of the magical zone you must occupy space in. Otherwise try to sit on the side without the bar. Better yet, go someplace else that cares about its’ cliental and appreciates that you are willing to spend your dollars there. Hopefully Pkwy Bistro gets it together soon. There are plenty of other places serving quality meals in the Longs/NMB area that put them to shame.
I highly recommend it trust me you will not be disappointed.
Back again and just as wonderful as before
The shrimp and steak risotto is my favorite, try it!! My husband had the chicken parmigiana and the portion was so large he couldn’t finish it after the soup and bread too.
Part One
If you want an absolutely delicious, tasty and well prepared meal, this is definitely a “must try!” My wife’s veal was cooked and seasoned to perfection !! A+++ My crab stuffed haddock was overflowing with lumped crab and also outstanding!! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the French onion soup too. I enjoyed this instead of the huge house salad my bride enjoyed. Everything was amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you to the chef!
Part Two
Someone needs to get ahold of the wait staff. We could have given a pass to the grumpy, matter-of-fact server who did not seem to want to be there. Thought either she just didn’t like us or was just having a bad day. I lean towards the latter as she treated each of her tables with almost disdain. This was not bad enough. There also seemed to be some hard-core personality clash with two or more of the ladies working the floor. At one point we heard raised voices in the beverage area, followed with one storming out, two beverages in hand and almost yelling, “I don’t have to respect you!” This was followed with the two beverages being slammed on the guests’ table sitting next to us!
Kudos to one server, Mariah(?) who rose above the negativity and provided smiling and friendly service to her guests.
I have over 18,000,000 photo reviews and over 500,000 review views because I am honest and fair in my reviews. Yes, we will be trying Parkway Bistro again and I truly hope I am able to change this review with positive thoughts.
