If you are always on the hunt for delicious Asian food in Costa Rica, especially Korean food, then you should check out Restaurante Columbus in San Jose. A fellow student in one of my Spanish classes, who is from Korea, said that the best Korean food, in her opinion, was in Hotel Columbus in the Sabana area, very near the National Stadium. My husband and I finally went and it did not disappoint. It was delicious with several types of banchan, the small plates served before the main course. It did turn out to be the best Korean food we have eaten in Costa Rica and we can’t wait to go back.

Food is delicious here. I have come here shy of a dozen times now. Service is slow and scarce, atmosphere is fine. Location is very convenient for public and private transportation. The tteok-bokki is spicy and tasty!

Happy to find a Korean restaurant in San Jose. We probably didn’t order the most authentic dishes on the menu because we didn’t know. I ordered fried Marlin. It was not greasy and tasted delicious. It is a big portion so plan on sharing. We had edamame and salad for appetizers, again enough to share.

We had the best dinner at this restaurant during the entire Costa Rica vacation. The spicy ramen soup is the best. The shoyu ramen is a bit salty. Kimchi-chigue is very well done. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and they have few private dining rooms which I found it quite unique. Reservation is strongly recommended otherwise you might not be served if you just walk in.

This place was a mixed experience. Some of the dishes were good (Omurice being one of them) but the noodle soup (Champon Ramen) with pork and seafood was awful. It was probably the worst ramen I’ve ever had. The seafood in the ramen was very chewy and tasted as if it came from the freezer and not fresh at all. The noodles weren’t nice either.
The servers were friendly but confused most of the time which table they were serving or bringing food to.
I probably would not go back.

I had been wanting to visit this place for a long time, and I finally got the chance to try it out. Our group of four spent around 20,000 CRC each, which included shared appetizers, desserts, and drinks. The service was excellent, and the server gave us spot-on recommendations. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. It was definitely worth the 20,000 CRC per person.

It’s a small restaurant build out of an old house, with the main dining room with windows facing the Sabana park. It isn’t a extraordinary view, but that’s what they can offer. The place is a bit small, and some tables were position in a bit awkward position. The food is good, spicy as it is expected and very well done. The bimbim bab are good, server in a ceramic hot pot . Regarding the service, there’s most of the time only 1 waiter, hence it is a bit slow. So if you are not in a rush and have plenty of time, this is a good place. Parking is not so great, since they have limited space on the side of the building, and since this is located across the park, it gets a bit difficult to find a parking space even in the street. The only thing that ruins your meal is that there are beggars entering the restaurants asking for food.
