I haven’t eaten at Long John Silver’s since late 2014. I ordered the basket with 2 pieces of fish and a side of clam strips. I got 2 perfectly golden, crispy, burnt-tasting grease sponges, fries that managed the rare feat of looking undercooked while tasting stale, and decent hush puppies.
While I appreciate the initiative to recycle, reuse, and repurpose, the only “re” that fryer oil should experience is “replace.” The fish was hot, balanced with the cold clam strips, and rounded out with lukewarm hush puppies and fries.
The employees seemed friendly, which I had ample time to experience as I waited close to 20 minutes, 10 of which listening to them through the ragged screen of their drive thru window. Eager to provide exemplary service, they tried to take payment for my mobile order twice.
I left with the feeling I wouldn’t return for another 11 years—and one burning question: how is Long John Silver’s still in business?

They opened at 10. I placed my pickup order for 11. Got to the restaurant at 10:50. Doors are locked. Called the restaurant, no answer. Knocked on door. Nothing. Walked away,, NOW an employee comes to open the door! My husband and I have tried to eat here 3 times in the last month. The first time, they were just straight up closed. The second time, they door was locked and it was 11:30am. Had to call to have someone open the door! And now, this today! The employee claimed it was because she was the only one there but I saw at least one more. Point being, if your restaurant says it opens at 10, your doors shouldn’t still be locked at 11 and 11:30, and if they’re going to be, then put a note on your door stating so.

The place is really run down on the outside , needs 1000’s of dollars worth of work done. Inside is small and clean. I asked for water and the gave soda water, threw that away . You can’t talk and see the menu at the drive through. Very weird lol I will never eat there again and wouldn’t suggest it to my neighbor I don’t like lol The shrimp was very salty. I’ve eaten at lots of long John’s and never had very salty shrimp. The Coleslaw wasn’t chopped enough, huge peices of cabbage.

Went in and ordered. They helped us with finding the best bang for our buck. Food was done quickly and brought to us nice and hot. Dinning room was clean and was greeted coming and and got a farewell when leaving. Can’t beat that

This is quite possibly the cleanest fast food restaurant you’ll ever find and the people that work there (every time that we’ve been there), like 3 or 4 times, have always been so friendly, nice and helpful. We are somewhat new to New Castle and try to avoid fried food for the most part but love the treat of LJS and this one is the BEST!! Great service and food!!

Visited the local Long John’s Silvers in New Castle on 1-1-24. Worst decision I made, for a quick stop while traveling. We stood at the register for a minimum of 10 min while the 2 employees doing other things behind the counter. So close to leaving but decided to wait it out. After we placed our order, we set and waited for our food for another 10 min. What really topped things off was there was absolutely no heat in the restaurant. I made a special trip to look at the thermostat, 54 deg. Unbelievable!!! The server mentioned they were waiting on a new furnace and that she knew it was too cold inside. We actually contemplated on taking our lunch to the car to eat! Won’t be back!!

Folks here have been very courteous and pleasant to work with. Prices are high unless they have a special deal or coupons. Doors need a foyer with double door entry to reduce cold air from blowing across patrons. Difficult to be comfortable with current layout.
