Our family stopped in for a quick bite on a visit to see our son at unm. I haven’t been to twisters in 15 years. The store is clean and well-staffed and the service was slow but attentive. We visited several weeks ago and I tried a burrito that was one of their specials Sabrina was excellent with carne asada chopped green chili and potatoes.

Update: I haven’t had any recurring issues with store being closed, so updating my review. The staff here are friendly and I do enjoy this location quite a bit.
Hey owners… what’s up with the store being closed on Sunday 8.24.25 at 7:30AM? Lights are off, people are asleep in their cars in the parking lot… just weird.

The reasons I love twisters
Outstanding array of New Mexican, fast food, the staff is always cordial and warm, they keep their establishment. Well staffed, the food is prepared fresh which explains why some people complain about the weight, affordability unfortunately since the last election f the price of food has sharply increased, so I’m not sure why people complain about the size of the proportions because they are proportional.
The only thing that I do find confusing is why ground beef isn’t an available add-on well I guess I’m not so confused because it tends to be the most expensive so then if you want a beef breakfast burrito without a lot of the other stuff you end up paying for a pricier burrito and then removing ingredients you don’t want which they don’t deduct from your total

This location has been pretty consistent during our visits so I thought I’d review it as well. Greeted and order taken quickly. Lobby was clean. Front staff was busy cleaning and helping clients. I ordered the Scorpion Chicken Sandwich combo (fries and drink) Average price. Dine in. I have to admit that the chicken breast was cooked pretty much to perfection: moist, hot and juicy, not stringy, not rubbery. Good job. I don’t necessarily like the “berry like” flavor of Scorpion peppers but I wanted to taste it with the combination of bacon, lettuce tomato and pickles. Quite honestly this is a really good sandwich. The sauce was like an aioli with the scorpion pepper flavor. Not overly spicy but you could feel the heat. (I personally like it a little hotter, but this isn’t for everyone). I wish I would’ve asked for a side of the sauce to try with the fries. Now about the fries: The fries are okay. I wish they were a little less dry and were seasoned. The meal nonetheless was satisfying. The lack of seasoning on the fries and the slight dryness of the fries made this a 4 ⭐ rating otherwise it might have been 4.5. IMHO it is worth trying the Scorpion Chicken Sandwich. It was well made and tasted excellent.

I get breakfast here all the time, usually is good every once in a while I get the wrong burrito. Today when fixing the wrong order they gave me a used burrito the green chili was absorbed into the potatoes it was Luke warm and obviously had bee sitting for a while. On the other hand the bandito was made fresh and ther was a huge discrepancy in quality.

I’ve got to be honest. I come to this location almost every day and the last 4-5 times have not been a very good experience. There has been a dip in quality and the service has been subpar. 3 visits ago, I got the wrong order and I couldn’t go back, because I had to be at work, but I got a burrito with meat and I get the vegetarian, so it was a surprise to bite into a burrito and get a mouthful of bacon. This most recent time, I saw a huge line of cars, so I decided it might be faster to go in and order before they all did. So I did just that and as I waited and waited, I realized the car that was at the back of the line had already gotten their order as well as several cars after them. It seems like the people in the lobby were not being prioritized even though it takes more effort for me to get out of my car and go in to order. I think my loyalty to this location and Twisters in general has worn thin and I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Update: 10/27 – I came back deciding to give you all another chance and you you got my order wrong AGAIN.

Not a high end restaurant, but nice friendly staff and I have enjoyed everything I’ve had there with the exception of the tacos. Avoid those at all cost.
I really like the huevos rancheros, the machaca burritos, actually any burrito.

Our favorite burrito place in town! They also have great green chili cheeseburgers! I love their nachos as well! Most of their food is good, try it all!

_NEVER_ EAT HERE. Got Bandito Burrito as I have many times B4 – near end, pulled TWO BLACK HAIRS out of my bite. Threw the stub out my window, pulled over & called store when stopped. Spoke w/ “Julio Lechuga” who refused to refund because I did not have the food to return “for training purposes” ( ‼️ ). I pointed out I had _TWO BLACK HAIRS_ , the wrapper & my receipt. He refused & hung up on me. My next call is the ABQ Dept of Enviro Health.
Later: All phone numbers for Twisters Corporate (as listed at BBB and other search results) – inc. the one currently on Twisters own website “contact” page, are non-functional. I did fill out the online feedback form and was surprised to get a call back from an “Operations Manager” who first parroted the same senseless line about no refund if you don’t still have the food; then inexplicably said if I returned the wrapper & hairs, I would be refunded. Maybe he simply didn’t think $3.11 was worth all the non-business likely to result from public disclosures like this one.
In any case I’m not removing or substantially changing this review (1) due to their BS food-return-no-matter-circumstance refund policy that by purposeful and unreasonable obstruction will go on leaving others violated without recourse – YOU’VE BEEN WARNED; and (2) the backflips I had to waste my whole morning doing for a lousy $3 refund due to Twisters’ revolting sanitation.

I picked up some food to go at twisters on Wyoming this evening. I ordered a smothered green chile burrito with scrambled eggs and potatoes. The smothering sauce consisted of green chili but no cheese. In addition, The potatoes in the burrito were dry and obviously old, I’m guessing from the morning or the previous day. Recycled potatoes are not good. Disappointed.
