Great food, Joey is an awesome chef, kids loved it, but lame atmosphere.
My daughter was having a bad evening, and Joey made her laugh and forget her troubles. All our kids loved it! His jokes were spot on, and great.
The food was great (with enough fat, salt, and sugar, anything is tasty) but the rice was grand! Great steak, great shrimp, all was great. Seaweed salad was fantastic!
$4 for the sodas, and slow on the refills was an affront. Seriously, $4 for a soda?
And be warned, they add 20% tip. It was fine, and he was worth it, but just know that’s factored into the ticket.
The decor/atmosphere is in need of help. Clean up, freshen up, close up the doorway into the old private room that is now a storage room…
And please tell your busboy to not clean the table while we are still sitting here – I thought they must be closed by the aggressive cleaning, but they were open for another hour!!!
Overall, sure, go for it. Great food.
But pricey for the lacking atmosphere.
But you should try it – maybe we had a poor night.
But request Joey for sure!

Had dinner here on a weekday evening.
Food and the cook were great.
Had the filet mignon and chicken.
Waitress was inattentive, even though there were only 2 tables to attend, didn’t get refills on drinks.
Some of the chairs were ripped and old.

Great experience and meal. Ended up getting seated while on a date night with a family. They brought us into their birthday party. Great chefs. Very experienced and entertaining. Loved the enthusiasm. Good prices and food. Had the filet mignon, lobster and shrimp and was very satisfied.

Came for lunch at 1pm with my 3 year old we got told we couldn’t have the full hibachi experience because their was only one of us….. my 3 year old is a person and was going to have a meal. Wanted to go and show him how fun eating out at a hibachi restaurant is. I was very disappointed. Also only one table enjoying hibachi at the time you would think you would want the business…… funny enough it looked to be a mom and two kids. So I was very confused. I work in the service industry and I would never turn down a mother and child.

It was fine. The tables were abnormally high (or the chairs were abnormally short. I looked around the restaurant. All of the chairs appeared to be the same height)). I’m 6’5″ and I’ve never experienced feeling short at a table. It was worse for the rest of my party who are shorter than me. It was uncomfortable enough that it negatively impacted my overall experience. The food quality and the cooking were good and the service was good, as well. The restaurant has an old feel. Not quite dingy but not obviously super clean. The men’s bathroom was kind of a mess. I would come here again if invited and the inviters were insistent. The food did taste good after all. But I wouldn’t choose to come here again. That table height really bugged me. I never thought I would have that kind of complaint. Their pricing is similar to Sakura’s and the food was similar as well. I would choose Sakura’s over Kobe for atmosphere and cleanliness and chair height, in the future.

We love Kobe in Southpoint. We have always had a wonderful experience here but today was the best hibachi experience we have ever had! We have three small children and they absolutely LOVED how interactive Chef Eric was with them! Chef Eric had fire tricks that we had never seen before and kept us all laughing and in awe throughout the whole experience. The food was cooked to perfection and amazingly flavorful. This experience was so amazing that I had to ask for his name so we could request him when we return! If you’re looking for a great hibachi experience and the best attentive service, try Kobe in Southpoint and ask for Eric! You won’t be disappointed!

Needs a solid scrub down, all the plates stuck to the table. The restrooms were filthy and run down. The grill master was the only saving Grace, he was nice, funny and kept us entertained. More than likely I won’t go back, not recommended unless it is a last resort.

I waited over 20 mintutes for takeout to have my order entered wrong. The food and service is great but please double check the order before taking payment. I specifically said steak and shrimp and he looked at it on the menu with me. I didn’t want to wait extra time for the shrimps to be done. I’m so disappointed.
